I want to wish each and every one of you happy holidays. The students at Steele have made so much growth first semester and I will be sharing out our progress in the January newsletter. When we return from winter break, all students will be participating in an Expectations University on January 10th so they can relearn/ be reminded of the expectations in all areas of the building. We will also continue to reinforce this in all settings throughout the year. You are able to preview the presentation below and reinforce it at home.

We know that all students need to be supported in different ways at Steele. Our goal is to meet the need of all of our Steele Stars with structure, love, compassion, patience, and engaged learning. In response to more of our students displaying extreme behaviors, our 205 Behavior Interventionists, will be presenting de-escalation strategies to the staff in January. Several of our teachers have already had intensive training in this during first semester. In addition, our school improvement team will begin a book study after break on restorative practices that lead to positive classroom management. When a school has strong systems, students are able to achieve more academically as well. However, we know that we cannot do it alone. We appreciate your support and investment in your child' education. I have also linked in some winter activities for families to participate in over break if you wish.

On a lighter note, I will be getting married over winter break and will change my name to Mrs. Coate (pronounced coat). I will update families with my new email address when it become official.
