Dear Preschool Community,

Cheers to a Marvelous March!!! This month we are starting out strong with our first Preschool Attendance Challenge. Classes that have 100% of their students and staff present each day will get to color in a block on their attendance chart. When the class has colored in 15 blocks during the month of March the entire class and staff will get their reward! We are very excited to celebrate our classes that are able to complete this task. As our preschool students get closer to elementary age, school attendance contributes a lot to continued school success. Students who miss days of school miss out on learning and when they return it can be difficult for them to catch up leading to frustration. In preschool we do our best to support our students and families with their first experience in school by allowing extra days of "excused" absences that are not allowed by the state in elementary school. This is done for a variety of reasons, preschool students tend to get sick more often as this is their first experience in a school system, childcare for our youngest learners can sometimes be difficult to secure, and the best place for children enrolled in early education is with their parents when they are not feeling well or are processing change in their life. With that being said, this attendance challenge will be used to motivate students to come to school in a positive way and we look forward to partnering with you to increase school participation.

We are very excited to begin our next unit learning all about Transportation. In addition to this exciting unit we will also be focusing on our Letter Studies again. Our classes will begin with the Letter K the week of March 6th, Letter U the week of March 13th, Letter G the week of March 20, and Letter W the week of March 27th. Each of these letters will have a tasting opportunity matching the letter, please check with your child's teacher to see if they need any more volunteers to assist with making the experience special for our students. Thank you for your support!

Please remember that on Read With Me Wednesday your child can be signed out 15 minutes before the end of their class period to participate in our reading time, but it is not required. If your child remains in the classroom rest assured that they will have the opportunity to read with a staff member until you arrive. This bonding opportunity is designed especially for you and your child to have an opportunity to read together. In order to support this, we ask that you help us focus on reading by ensuring no one plays on the playgrounds during this time. Thanks!

Each and every day is so important and we truly appreciate you ensuring your child is present at school each day and ready to learn. If your child won't be able to come to school we ask that you please contact the school office at 951-657-1441 or contact your teacher using Class Dojo so that we can help excuse your child's absence. Remember, Attendance Counts!

Please remember that we have class all during the month of March. The first two weeks of April are PESD's Spring Break and students will not return to class until April 17th.

We are all so excited to have you join us for as many events as possible on campus. I encourage you to get involved!

See you around!

- Mrs. Howe
