We Need Your Help!
Our Title I funding is based solely on the number of students on our campus that are in the free and reduced lunch program. Last year, a little over 51% of our students were in the program at snapshot (October 31). This year, our percentage has dropped to 48.5%. If we do not raise our percentage of students in the program, our Title I funding will decrease substantially for next year. Title I funds benefits every student on campus.
If your child was in the Free and Reduced Lunch program last year, and you have not completed the application for this year, please do it today. If you think you might meet the requirements for the program, please apply even if your child does not eat school lunches. Title I is more than just a meal program. Our snapshot day for this year is October 30. We appreciate your help!
Join us on Tuesday, October 27 for Community Connection Night: Hot Dogs and Helping Your Child Navigate Friendships and Conflict. Enjoy a hot dog while a guest speaker from our CISD Counseling Department provides a helpful presentation on helping your child navigate friendships and conflict. Wilkerson staff will also be available to help you apply for the free meal program and help parents navigate the parent portal.
If you plan to attend, please let us know by filling out the form and make sure to include the number of your family that will be in attendance.

Color Run Fundraiser!
The 2026 Wilkerson Color Run is this Friday, October 30. The students and staff are looking forward to this fun event. At our pep rally on Friday, our students learned about three incentives to finish out our fundraiser and put us over our goal of $16,500. ($15,000 profit)
- The 10 students with the highest dollar amount in donations for each grade level will get to throw color when the other grade level runs.
- The homeroom in each grade level with the highest dollar amount in donations will get to SLIME the principals and possibly some teachers too.
- If we hit our stretch goal of $20,000, we will have a dunk tank where principals and teachers get dunked.
Please keep checking your emails for nightly challenges. Classes have the chance to earn treats like popcorn and donuts.
This weekend's challenge: The homeroom class with the most students sharing the link wins popcorn on Monday.

Color Run Details
Students will run through color stations set up around the Knox track. Volunteers will throw powdered color at the student run past them. The goal is to color their shirt while having fun doing it. If your student doesn’t want to pass through the powdered color, there will be a no-color option so that they can participate.
Recommended Attire: Your student will be given their Color Run T-shirt the day of the run. If possible, have your student bring sunglasses for eye protection. Students should wear shorts/pants and shoes that they don’t mind getting dirty. There is no guarantee that it will wash out completely.
Important Details
- A signed color run permission slip is required for your child to participate in the color run. Permission slips were sent home early last week. The color run permission slip is also linked below.
- Only parent volunteers can participate in this event. If you would like to volunteer, please see the volunteer information in the PTO section of the newsletter.
Picture Day
Picture day is Wednesday, October 28! We have contacted the photographers for ordering information and will send that home as soon as we receive it. All students will have their picture taken on October 28.
Student Behavior
We have several exciting student incentive events including field trips and our annual Winter Wonderland coming up between now and the end of the fall semester. In an effort to deter poor behavior choices, students who receive a serious level 3 or repeated level 2 disciplinary referrals during the second nine-weeks are subject to being withheld from these events. This includes bus referrals, as we are seeing an increased number of behavior incidents from the transportation department. We would greatly appreciate your partnership in reinforcing student behavior expectations on campus, so that we can ensure that every student has a safe and positive experience at Wilkerson.

Library Notifications
Conroe ISD Library Services has enabled checkout notifications, so you know the title of the books your student checked out. These notifications will be sent on days when your student checks out a book from the school library and will only be sent for the initial checkout. Daily notifications will no longer occur for the entire time a book is checked out to a student. State law and board policy do not allow an opt-out option for these notifications. If you have a question or concern about your student’s reading material, please contact your campus librarian.
The Destiny Library Catalog has been updated with the following message as per Local Policy EFB.
Library materials may include objectionable materials. If you would like to restrict access to specific library materials, please complete the Library Access Form.

SMART Tag Reminder
We want to remind families about the importance of students bringing their SMART Tags every day. It is extremely important that students keep up with their tags and have them with them daily. All students were provided with a tag at the beginning of the school year, and we will replace it once before imposing a $2 replacement fee.
Thank you for helping us ensure a smooth and safe process for all of our students!
SMART Tag Parent App
Parents please sign up for the SMART tag™ Parent App, as we are no longer providing Bus Hubs to notify parents of bus delays. This app offers real-time updates on their
child’s school bus, including arrival alerts, and notifications for delays or route changes.
The transportation app is a reliable and convenient way for you to stay informed about your child's transportation. Simply download the app, register, and link your child's student ID to begin receiving important transportation updates.
The link below will provide step-by-step instructions to help you register and get started.
