Art Update in First Grade

1st graders have been learning about Eric Carle and his use of tissue paper as a medium! We read the book Mister Seahorse and noticed the colorful and uniquely shaped characters in the book. Students will be designing their own fish and adding this to an underwater tissue paper collage! There MIGHT be some glitter involved, too!

Library Update for First Grade

By the end of this year, the first grades will have their pick of most of the books in the library. We have recently opened a select section of graphic novels as a choice for them and they are allowed to pick one if they want. We reviewed that, if a book isn’t right for you, you can always bring it back and choose another the next day

We love playing “Let Us Chase the Squirrel” and “Grizzly Bear” with the parachute, too!

BES Staff Favorite Things

The Blacklick PRIDE Partner PTO has complied a list of the staff's favorite things. It is important to understand the teachers are not asking for gifts. We know that many parents might want to get their child's teacher a gift and this list is to help you select something the teacher would like. Please do not feel obligated to buy a gift for your child's teachers/staff members. A thoughtful note from you and/or your child at any time of the year is appreciated just as much or more as any gift.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Karen Davidson, PTO President, at ptoblacklick@gmail.com.
