Kindergarten Learns About Community Helpers

The kindergarten classes at Greendale spent two weeks learning what it means to be a community helper. They learned about different careers, their uniforms, and the tools these workers use in their jobs. Over the unit, they had an engineering workshop with a civil engineer, a visit with a nurse, met police officers and a police dog as they toured the Washington County Sheriff's Office, met with EMTs and got on an ambulance, and toured the Abingdon Fire Department and learned about fire safety. They even got to help put out a pretend fire with the hose! At the end of the unit, each child presented a project about a community helper of their choice. Great job little Lions!
