We have officially completed our first full week of school, and it has been great to see our students settling into routines, building relationships, and making GLHS feel like home.

Thank you to our families for your continued patience and partnership as we refine arrival, dismissal, parking, and other routines connected to our new campus. We are learning, adjusting, and improving together each day.

It was also wonderful to welcome so many families to Curriculum Night and to celebrate the Class of 2027 at Senior Sunrise. These are the moments that remind us that high school is about much more than classes. It is also about connection, belonging, and creating memories along the way.

As we move into September, our focus is simple: be here, be ready, get involved, and show P.R.I.D.E. in all you do.

One PRIDE. One Family. Go Lions!

What a Way to Begin Senior Year!

On Friday morning, 295 members of the Class of 2027 gathered in the GLHS Stadium for Senior Sunrise!

Our seniors spent the morning connecting with classmates, taking pictures, enjoying time together, and celebrating the beginning of their final year as Lions.

Senior year will be filled with milestones, traditions, accomplishments, and memories, and we were excited to begin that journey together.

Thank you to our seniors who joined us and helped make the morning such a special one.

Homecoming 2026 Homecoming 2026

We’re excited to welcome students to the GLHS Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 8:00–11:00 PM!

Here’s what families need to know:

  • Emergency Medical Authorization Form: A current Emergency Medical Authorization Form must be completed in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal before a student can purchase a Homecoming ticket.
  • Guest Forms: Students who plan to bring a guest who does not attend GLHS must complete a Homecoming Guest Form and submit it to the Main Office by the communicated deadline. Access the guest form here.
  • Ticket Eligibility: Students will only be able to purchase a ticket after their Emergency Medical Authorization Form is updated in Infinite Campus. We strongly encourage families to complete this requirement early rather than waiting until ticket sales begin.

Additional information regarding the ticket sales window will be shared as those details are finalized.

For questions, please contact the GLHS Main Office at (614) 478-5500.

Last week, students participated in a jam-packed homeroom lesson focused on our school’s P.R.I.D.E. Core Values (Purpose, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, and Excellence) and how they connect to this year’s theme, Think. Choose. Grow.: Understanding the Brain Behind Our Choices. During the lesson, students:

  • Discussed what P.R.I.D.E. looks like in our school community
  • Learned about the different ways we recognize positive behavior, attendance, and achievement through tangible rewards, privileges, and recognition
  • Learned about the new opportunity to apply to become a PBIS Student Ambassador
  • Shared their voice through a schoolwide survey about the rewards, incentives, and experiences they would like to see this year

Nearly 1,500 students completed the survey, giving us valuable feedback that will help shape PBIS opportunities throughout the school year and ensure student voice remains at the center of our work.

Students and families will begin hearing more about Minga, a platform we are using to support student recognition, engagement, accountability, and school routines.

Through Minga, students will be able to participate in school challenges and events, earn PRIDE Points, and use our digital hall pass system. Minga’s digital hall pass feature will help students request and manage passes electronically while allowing staff to monitor hall pass activity and support safe, efficient movement throughout the school.

One of our goals is to intentionally recognize students when they demonstrate the behaviors and habits that contribute to a positive GLHS community.

Students will have opportunities throughout the year to earn PRIDE Points through the Minga app for positive choices, participation, achievement, attendance, involvement, and other demonstrations of P.R.I.D.E.

We look forward to sharing more with families as we continue our rollout!

Attendance & Tardies: Every Minute Matters Attendance & Tardies: Every Minute Matters

Be here. Be on time. Be ready to learn.

Now that students have had time to learn their schedules, classrooms, and routes through the building, we are reinforcing the importance of arriving to school and to every class on time.

Attendance is taken throughout the school day, and late arrivals, early dismissals, and time missed from individual classes all reduce valuable instructional time.

Families can help by encouraging students to leave enough time to move directly to their next class and arrive before the bell.

Strong attendance habits established now can make a significant difference throughout the school year.

High school is about more than attending classes. Some of the most meaningful high school experiences happen when students find a club, activity, team, organization, or interest that helps them feel connected.

GLHS offers more than 40 extracurricular activities, providing students with opportunities to meet new people, build leadership skills, explore interests, serve others, and create lasting memories.

We encourage every Lion to find at least one way to get involved this year. VIEW GLHS CLUBS & ACTIVITIES

Thank you to our students and families for helping us establish focused learning environments as we begin the year.

Our schoolwide expectation remains:

Power it off. Store it away. Use your district Chromebook for school.

This includes personal laptops, MacBooks, iPads, tablets, earbuds, headphones, and other personal electronic devices unless specifically authorized.

Students have access to their district-issued Chromebook for instructional technology needs.

If a student needs to contact home during the school day, assistance is available through the Main Office or Student Services. Families who need to reach their student may contact the GLHS Main Office at 614-478-5500.

Thank you for your continued partnership in helping us keep students focused on learning.
