November 2026 Newsletter
Dear LMS Families,
Welcome to November! As the autumn leaves fall and the weather turns colder, our hallways are bustling with energy, academic progress, and seasonal transitions. October was an incredibly active month for our Eagles—complete with our memorable Washington D.C. trip, engaging guest presentations, and valuable time spent connecting during our Parent/Teacher conferences.
As we pivot into November, our focus remains on maintaining strong classroom routines, keeping student safety and performance high, and transitioning into new extracurricular schedules. We want to extend a warm welcome to our athletes and families jumping right into our Winter Season #1 sports programs, including our 7th and 8th-grade Girls Volleyball team and our Wrestling team, who are working hard at practices this week.
Thank you for your continued partnership in helping our students learn, create, and succeed every single day. Please continue to stay up to date with your child's progress in their classes by checking Parent Vue. Quarter 1 grades have been posted.

Assistant Principal News
LMS Families,
Last week we were able to hold our 2nd round of quarterly class meetings to review important topics, including classroom behavior, cafeteria expectations, and our first Zero Referral Club celebration of the school year. These meetings provide an opportunity to address areas where we see room for improvement while also recognizing and celebrating the many students who consistently make positive choices and meet expectations each day. We are fortunate to have such a positive school environment at LMS, and we appreciate the role our students, staff, and families play in making it that way.
Our first Zero Referral Club celebration took place on Friday, October 30, at the Multipurpose Building. Each grade level attended for just under an hour and enjoyed a variety of activities with their friends. Teachers joined the students in celebrating their excellent start to the school year. To attend, students must have zero discipline referrals for the school year. Students who have received a referral will remain at LMS and be supervised by a staff member. Our goal is to continue using this celebration as a positive incentive for students to make responsible decisions every day, with the opportunity to participate in our next celebration in a few months. This is our fourth year offering the Zero Referral Club, and we have received wonderful feedback. We look forward to continuing this tradition!
As we move forward, please continue having meaningful conversations with your students about making good choices, treating others with respect, and taking responsibility for their actions. Middle school can be a challenging time for young people, but by working together, we can help guide them through these years and support their growth into outstanding young men and women.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns. We are here to support you and your students. I hope you and your families have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Counselor's Corner
Mrs. Roehrig’s Maternity Leave
Mrs. Roehrig is currently out on maternity leave. During this time, we want to ensure that all student needs continue to be met. We encourage families to maintain open communication with their child’s teacher regarding academic progress, classroom concerns, or questions about academic support in that subject. Working together helps us address concerns promptly and ensure the best possible outcomes for our students.
We are please to announce that we will have coverage for Mrs. Roehrig during her leave. Neil Bedell, is a retired Counselor that has graciously accepted a temporary position, two days per week, until Mrs. Roehrig returns in the middle of January. Below is a short introduction and background that Mr. Bedell brings to us from his years in education.
Hello! My name is Neil Bedell, and I am excited to step back out of full retirement—which I entered in 2024—to join the team at Linden Middle School as your short-term substitute counselor.
My career in education and mental health spans over three decades, beginning with seven years at Whittemore-Prescott Area Schools as a classroom teacher and middle school counselor, alongside serving as an adult education supervisor.
Following that, I spent 12 years as a guidance counselor at Fenton Area Public Schools and 13 years at Clio Area Schools, where I served as both Assistant Principal and Principal before initially retiring in 2019. Since then, I have stayed active through private practice counseling, long-term substitute assignments for both counselors and administrators in Clio and Fenton, and working part-time as a mental health specialist at GISD.
Professionally, I hold a Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling, a Master of Arts in School Administration, a Certified Guidance Counselor credential, and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) license. I look forward to supporting Linden's students and staff during my time here!
Mr. Bedell will be assisting Mrs. Gambrel and is looking forward to meeting the students and staff of LMS.
For any other questions or concerns, please contact the front desk, and our staff will be happy to direct you to the appropriate person.
Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership as we work together to support the success and well-being of all students!

On November 3, 2026, voters in the Linden Community Schools district will consider a Sinking Fund Replacement Proposal. The proposal would replace the district's current sinking fund, which expires on December 31, 2026, with a new 10-year sinking fund (2027-2036) at the same 1.1603 mill rate, resulting in a zero tax-rate increase. The Sinking Fund Replacement will help fund eligible safety and security upgrades, facility improvements, technology, transportation, and other capital needs.
