A message from the principal
Happy Friday CY families,
A few items for you:
- We will not be allowing lunch visitors until after Labor Day. This will give our students time to practice the routines in the lunchroom.
Other reminders:
- Student IDs will arrive in mid-August. Students are expected to wear their ID lanyards everyday because they are used on the bus and in the cafeteria.
- Our students are expected to follow the Perry Township Schools Dress Code.
- Our school office closes at 4:15. If you are needing to locate a school bus you may call (317) 789-6221. If you can not get through to them, you can Parent Square message me and/or Mrs. Livesay for assistance.
- Your student should take time to read at home. Research shows that reading just 20 minutes a day outside of school helps kids develop critical reading skills
- Please join our PTO!

Vaccination Clinic
The mandatory exclusion date for the state of Indiana this school year is September 8, 2026 and is fast approaching. If your student is missing the required vaccinations for school you have received a message in Parent Square from a school nurse and letters have been sent home with your student. These vaccinations can be received at the office of your student's primary healthcare provider, at the Marion County Public Health Department (payments can be made on a sliding scale payment based on income if your student does not have insurance), or you can go to Indiana Immunization Coalition (they accept insurance if student has it but students will not be charged for vaccinations if not insured.) Please reach out to our clinic if you have questions regarding vaccinations needed by your student. Also note that if your child received vaccinations in another state or country their vaccinations may not be on file with the state vaccination registry. It is always best to bring a copy of the vaccinations they have received with you to prevent your child receiving duplicate vaccinations.
Clinton Young will be hosting a vaccination clinic with the Indiana Immunization Coalition on September 1, 2026. The vaccinations will be administered here at school and are free if parents sign the student up for the clinic. We must have 20 student's signed up for the clinic to be held.
Gently Used Uniforms
As you are doing some spring cleaning, if you find some uniform clothing you no longer need, please consider donating them to our clinic.
Uniform requirements are as follows:
- Solid color collared shirt (with sleeves) or turtleneck, tucked in.
- Black, khaki, navy or earthtone bottoms, no denim. No overt or distracting holes, rips, cuts, or frays are permitted. (Pants or skirts must be worn at the waist)
- Knee-length pants. Shorts may be worn up until Fall Break and after Spring Break.
- Dresses, skirts, shorts, and jumpers must be near knee length.
Attendance
The state of Indiana has an attendance law. Senate Enrolled Act 282 requires students to be in regular attendance. It also places measures on schools to have more monitoring in place and holds families more accountable for getting their kids to school and on time.
If your child is going to be ABSENT from school for any reason, please CALL (317) 789-3402.
In addition, please provide an excuse note to the school for ALL appointments that your child may have during school hours or if they are arriving late or leaving early for an appointment. Thank you!

Need assistance?
If you are in need of assistance (uniforms, winter coats, food, school supplies, etc.) please call our School Social Worker, Mrs. Kwiatkowski, at (317) 789-3471 or send her a ParentSquare message (Jessi Martin).
Visitors & Volunteers
Visitors
All visitors must present a picture ID and scan their ID with the front office staff. This scan will check the National Sex Offender Registry but a full background check is not necessary. The visitor background check is free of charge.
A visitor is anyone who:
- Has lunch with their child
- Has a meeting with the principal
- Has a meeting with the teacher
- Guest speakers are considered visitors
Volunteers
A volunteer is anyone who:
- Attends a classroom party
- Assists in a classroom such as tutors/helpers/room parents
- PTA volunteers
- Attends a field trip with their student (for overnight field trips, please see below)
A SafeVisitor volunteer background check is $15.95 and is valid for three years. (These background checks can take three to six days to process, so please plan accordingly.) The background check is a national screening process that includes a Social Security and address verification and checks the following: National Criminal Database, National Sex Offender Registry, Statewide Criminal, County Criminal, and Federal Criminal Courts. This background check also includes the Arrest Alert program, which will notify Perry Township Schools of arrests after the initial background check has been approved.
Once your background check is approved, you will receive an email from info@safevisitorsolutions.com with a badge in PDF form. You can print it and carry it with you, save it to your phone as a picture, or save the email with the approval and the barcode.
