As Thanksgiving approaches, we are reminded of how fortunate we are to be part of such a supportive and caring school community. Thank you for the trust, encouragement, and partnership you bring to our school each day.

We wish all of our families a safe, fun, and relaxing long weekend filled with time together and plenty to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving!

We are happy to share that Fruit Fridays are back this year! In the spirit of community building and shared experiences, we would like to invite families to send in a piece of fruit on Friday, October 16th, if you are able. Each Fruit Friday a different class will collect, wash, cut, and prepare fruit platters for each classroom in the school. It's a beautiful act of service created from the generosity of our community. Thank you for your support; whether it is through kind words or fruit, both are so appreciated.

Thank You for a Great Parent / Teacher Conference Thank You for a Great Parent / Teacher Conference

A big thank you to all of our families who took part in Parent/Teacher Conferences. One of the highlights was seeing our students have the opportunity to share their learning, celebrate their successes, and talk about where they are continuing to grow.

We value the connection between families and teachers and appreciate the time you took to be part of these conversations. If you did not have an opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, please reach out to them directly and they will make arrangements for a conversation.

Thank you for being such an important part of your child’s learning journey.

Throughout our school, we are always looking for opportunities to recognize the many positive things our students do each day. Through our Bear Paws, staff are recognizing students who demonstrate kindness, leadership, responsibility, perseverance, and other actions that contribute positively to our school community.

Sometimes it is the small things that make the biggest difference: helping a classmate, including someone, showing determination, or simply making a positive choice. We look forward to continuing to celebrate these moments and the wonderful contributions our students make to our school each day.

October Family Night October Family Night

Save the date for our October Family Night. We will be hosting a pajama movie night the Black Mountain Elementary gym on Tuesday, October 20th from 5-6:45pm. We will be showing Toy Story 5, so bring your favourite camp chair or picnic blanket and get cozy. We would love if you could bring a favourite snack to share and we will have a shared snack buffet table. We will also have a popcorn machine for the evening.

We invite all children to bring a stuffy that they would be comfortable leaving at the school overnight, if they wish. Children will make collars/nametags for their stuffies and the stuffies will have a "Stuffy Sleepover". The stuffies will return to their rightful owners the following morning at school, with some photographic evidence of the mischief they might have gotten into at the school overnight 😁

A heartfelt thank you to our students, families, and staff for their incredible support of this year's Terry Fox Run. Together, our school community raised an outstanding $809.45 in support of cancer research.

This achievement reflects the generosity, compassion, and community spirit that make our school such a special place. We are proud of our students for embracing Terry Fox's message of hope, perseverance, and helping others.

Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this wonderful effort. Every dollar raised helps make a difference, and we are grateful for the support shown by our entire school community!

Our PAC plays an important role in making many wonderful opportunities possible for our students. From Hot Lunch and the Book Fair to school events, equipment, learning resources, and support for field studies, the time and energy contributed by our parent community has a significant impact on our school.

To make these programs and events possible, we need your help! There are a variety of ways to volunteer throughout the year, whether you can help regularly or only for a specific event. Our PAC is currently especially looking for support with the Hot Lunch Program, including volunteers who may be available on Mondays and every other Friday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Please take a look at the attached PAC information and volunteer sign-up sheet to learn more about the many ways you can get involved. If you are able to lend a hand, even a small amount of your time can make a big difference!
