April: All the Seasons in One Month April: All the Seasons in One Month

zoom_out_map

Dear Ross Community,

The throes of spring are upon us, as we wake each day and wonder what season the weather will be inspired by--will it be 40 or 80? Anyone's guess. I remind myself that at the end of this roller coaster we will land squarely in the ultimate inferno that (for me) is a DC summer, so I'm going to enjoy this wintry day and sip my hot tea while I can. 🍵

Let's keep your Ross calendars fresh: it is indeed Spirit Week. You still have three more opportunities for festivity: tomorrow (Wed) is favorite team colors or jersey day, Thursday is mismatch/backwards day, and Friday is hat day. We've added a couple new dates to note: the PTA General Body Meeting (virtual) will be Tuesday, June 3, and our End of the Year Picnic will be Thursday, June 12. ICYMI, we have scheduled our Spring Bike & Roll to School event for Tuesday, May 20.

I hope you're gearing up for fun spring break plans, and we'll see you back here in two weeks!

-Aimee

Mother's and Father's Day Book Drive Mother's and Father's Day Book Drive

Sign Up to Help!

Our beloved Ross tradition is back! For a $25 donation, you can sponsor a book for the school library in honor of a loved one or teacher. Each book gets a personalized bookplate, and we can send a note to your honoree. It’s the perfect gift for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or Teacher Appreciation Week. Help us reach our goal of 250 new books for Ross—your child’s class could win a popsicle party for sponsoring the most!

You can sponsor books online here now through Sunday, May 4. Each $25 donation sponsors a new book for the Ross library. Your class earns 1 point per book! After donating, check your confirmation email (from rossfundraising@gmail.com) for a link to name your honoree(s) and secure your class’s points.

You and your kids (especially!) can sign up to volunteer at the book drive:

  • Fri, May 2 – Ross playground, 8–9am & 3–4pm

  • Sat, May 3 – Safeway (17th St), 10am–4pm

  • Sun, May 4 – Little Flea Market (19th & Q), 9am–3pm

This is a family event — kiddos are strongly encouraged to join their grownups as volunteers. (Who can say no to a child who wants more books?!) Plus, families earn double points for books sponsored during their shift.

👉Please sign up your family to volunteer for a time slot here. Volunteers staff the Ross Book Drive table and collect donations from the community
