Field Day: Thursday June 11th
Our Field Day is this Thursday, June 11. Students will be outdoors from 9:30 AM–1:45 PM, they will have a break for lunch. There will also be built-in water break stations throughout the day.
What students should bring / wear:
- A refillable water bottle that can travel with them during activities
- Sneakers
- Towel
- Sunscreen (please apply at home before school if possible)
- Grade-level colors: If your child ordered a Field Day shirt, they will receive it tomorrow. If they did not order a shirt, no problem—please wear the grade-level color or something with that color on it.
- Kindergarten: Green
- First Grade: Blue
- Second Grade: Purple
- Third Grade: Red
- Fourth Grade: Orange
- Fifth Grade: Yellow
- A change of clothes (at least one set), as there will be some water games
- We do not recommend wearing white, since it may become see-through when wet. No Bathing suits.
Nashua Fire Department water spray (around 2:00 PM):
As long as they are available, Mr. Barry has coordinated with the Nashua Fire Department to come by around 2:00 PM to spray water and help cool everyone down. If your child does not want to be sprayed, they may remain outside of the spray area. The NFD has done this at other schools in years past and it has been a big hit!
A reminder about expectations:
Field Day is meant to be fun—winning and losing games is not the focus. We will be encouraging supportive, kind interactions from all students throughout the day.
Please note that there are no spectators. Attendance is limited to registered, pre-arranged volunteers only.
Thank you for your help in making this one of the best days of the school year!

Fairgrounds Middle School is Visiting our Fifth Graders Tomorrow 6/9/26
Tomorrow (Tuesday, June 9), a 6th grade counselor from Fairgrounds Middle School, Jared Barbosa, will be coming to talk with all of our 5th graders about next year. Jared will describe what a typical day at school looks like and will answer any questions students may have. The Fairgrounds band and chorus groups will also be visiting to do a short presentation for everyone.
We have found that presentations like this help alleviate some of the worry and anxiety students may have about transitioning to a new school.
Most of our Sunset Heights students will be attending Fairgrounds Middle School next year. However, even if your child is not going to Fairgrounds, they will still participate in this presentation, as middle schools are similar in many ways.
If your child will be attending McCarthy Middle or Pennichuck Middle next year, they have already met with a counselor from those schools and have had the opportunity to learn about those buildings and ask questions.
If you have any further questions, please reach out to MaryBeth Thompson (Sunset Heights School Counselor) at: thompsonma@nashua.edu.
