Welcome!

Dear Students, Parents and Caregivers:

Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year! This year will be like no other and we appreciate your feedback, support, flexibility, patience and grace as we navigate school during Covid-19.

As you are aware, you have selected to have your student return for an A/B day schedule, be fully remote, or attend our Columbia Virtual Academy (CVA). Our teachers are working extremely hard to provide the best education possible this year!

We plan to update you frequently as things change on a regular basis. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to email or call.

We are looking forward to a great year!

*** This year it will be extremely important for ALL students to check their Columbia student emails for Zoom links, information, scheduling updates, scholarships, etc. ***

What do I need for the first day of school at the High School? (If attending in person)

1. Mask

2. Laptop (charged)

3. Water Bottle (Optional, but no water fountains this year, only refillable stations)

5. Backpack (Optional, but no lockers this year)

6. Writing Utensil

SAFETY PROTOCOLS

1. ALL students and staff will be required to do a self health assessment prior to coming to school.

2. ALL students and staff must wear a mask.

3. Students should bring a water bottle as we have refilling stations (All water fountains have been disabled).

4. Hand washing and the use of hand sanitizer will be encouraged daily.

5. Social distancing will be followed at 6ft. or the maximum extent possible.

6. Staff and students are encouraged to stay home if they have symptoms or are not feeling well.

How do I log into homeroom and my classes?

If you are on an A/B day schedule or fully remote, your teachers will send you a Zoom link for homeroom and each class you are enrolled in.

You will use these links to remotely access your teachers and classrooms.

Please check your school emails frequently.

Schedule for A/B day and Remote Learning

Students will rotate from face-to-face instruction or fully remote based on the below schedule.

ALL remote and A/B day schedule students first day is Monday, August 31!

If you are scheduled as an A day student, your first day of in person school is Monday, August 31.

If you are scheduled as a B day student, your first day of in person school is Thursday, September 3. (Attend Zoom meetings starting August 31).

How do I know what schedule to follow?

Each student can access their schedule by logging into their Power School account.

If you do not know your login information, you can contact the main office.

Face Covering Breaks

We will provide student mask breaks under the following conditions:

  • Students are eating or drinking when spaced at least 6 feet apart; or

  • When wearing a face covering creates an unsafe condition in which to operate equipment or execute a task; or

  • At least 6 feet apart during “face-covering breaks” to last no longer than 10 minutes

Chorus and Band

We plan to hold chorus and band courses during the day. They will have some additional safety measures including:

Chorus - increased social distancing and wearing of masks while singing; outside as appropriate

Band - increased social distancing, smaller ensembles, required masks when not playing, bell covers for instruments

If you are not comfortable with these safety measures, please contact Mr. Jensen (chorus) or Mr. Stauffer (band)
