7th St. Construction Project - Tentatively Starts June 11th
There will be a major construction project taking place on/around 7th St. that will last through the summer and require you to enter the parking lot differently than you may normally. It is scheduled to start "on/around June 11th." For those of you who are not aware, 7th St. is the road you turn onto in order to enter the parking lot in front of the school. This may impact you or your student if they will be at BHS for any reason over the summer. A press release including all of the details can be found here.
Make Up Exams - Dates Included
For students who do not take their exams as scheduled for any reason, we will be offering the times below for them to come in and make up their exams with BHS Administration:
Friday, June 12th - 7 am to 3 pm
Tuesday, June 16th - 9 am to 12 pm
Wednesday, June 17th - 12 pm to 3 pm
Thursday, June 18th - 9 am to 12 pm
Feel free to share this information with your student if they miss an exam for any reason.
Emails Deactivated (Seniors and Retirees)
As we prepare for the end of the year, there are a few important dates to share regarding when email addresses will be shut off for our Seniors as well as our staff who are retiring. We are telling students to please make sure they are backing up/downloading all files in advance of this deactivation if there is anything you would like to save. More information for each of these groups is provided below:
- Seniors - Email addresses will be deactivated on September 1st
- Retirees - Email addresses will be deactivated 30 days from the end of the school year in case your student needs to get ahold of them for any reason
Summer School Information - Registration Now Open!
Summer School Registration is now open! The registration form for this year's summer school program can be found here.

End of Year Medication Pick Up Reminder
Please see the message below from our school nurse:
YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR STUDENT'S MEDICATION!
Medication(s) must be picked up by a parent/guardian by the end of the school day on (or before) June 11th. All remaining medication will be properly disposed of.
Reminder for Next School Year:
If your student will require medication during the 2026/2027 school year, a new Medication Authorization Form or a new Action Plan needs to be completed. You can find the link to these Health Forms and Action Plans here.
*If your student has a chronic medical condition that may result in an emergency situation (Seizures, Anaphylactic Allergies, Type 1 Diabetes, Asthma, etc.), please inform your student's school and ensure you have an up to date medical plan on file prior to the start of the 2026/2027 school year. A new plan is required on a yearly basis or if any changes are made to the plan throughout the year.
Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you next year!
Athletic Department Hiring Student Staff
The Athletic Department is hiring student staff for the 2026-2027 school year. Student staff offer competitive wages and flexible hours. Work includes: setting up for events, working during events and tearing down after the events. You do not need to play a sport to work for athletics! Applications and work permits are available outside of the Athletic Office.

Information for Current Juniors - Future Senior Parent Meeting Info (6/8)
We know some of our current Juniors (and maybe their parents) are getting nervous about all things Senior Year that are coming up and how to navigate that process. With this in mind, Mrs. Caverly and I will be hosting a Future Senior Parent Meeting on Monday, June 8th at 6 pm in the BCPA. We will be going over much of what you can expect to try to help minimize any anxiety that may currently be present. We hope to see you there!
Brighton Community Bike Bus - June 9th
On Tuesday, June 9th, a number of Brighton Area Schools students will be riding their bikes to school together with adult/parent leaders. The ride will take place mainly through Pine Creek, but will also include a stretch of Brighton Rd. as the students head toward Maltby. More information can be found here.
This information is being shared with you as an awareness piece in case it impacts your morning commute or you see them passing by in the morning.

You may or may not be aware, but the enrollment and school of choice windows are now open for the 2026-27 school year! It is important to keep our enrollment steady, or even increasing to allow us to maximize our offerings for our students and set them up for future success. If you know of anyone who will be new to BHS next year or who may be considering BHS as an option for enrollment next year, we have an excellent resource you can share with them. It is provided below. Also, feel free to connect them with us if they have any questions or are looking to set up an opportunity to tour the building!
Senior Specific Information
Graduation Pictures
Hello Graduates and Families!
The QR code that is attached will help you and your family receive your portraits easier and more efficiently. You must scan the QR registration code. Register by filling out all the information fields. It will ask for you/your student’s name, email address (please put a personal email, not a school email), phone number, and home address.
By providing this information, we will send a proof of any professional portraits we take, e.g.: when you cross the stage, formal portraits, along with any other portraits taken of you before, during, and after the ceremony. After filling out all of the information, it will ask to provide a selfie. We use this selfie of you/your student as a reference photo to match all of the portraits we take of you/your student. You can either take a selfie as you are filling out the form, or you can upload a selfie as long as it matches the guidelines. It is extremely important that there is NO ONE in the selfie other than you/your student.
An example of what the selfie is supposed to look like will be provided during registration. When you see the registration code appear, this means you are registered. Save this for future use.
Congratulations, Class of 2026!
Thank you!

LCHD Immunization Exemption Process Update
Please see the information below from the Livingston County Health Department regarding an update to their immunization exemption process (formerly known as waivers):
We are writing to share an important update to Livingston County Health Department’s immunization
exemption process (formerly known as “waivers”).
- New Fully Virtual Option
Families no longer need to come in person to complete an exemption. After they finish the required online education, they can complete the rest of the process virtually. These submissions are processed within 3–5 business days.
- In-Person Appointments Still Available
Families who prefer to come in person can still make an appointment. This includes parents who want to opt out of the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR) and complete a paper exemption, or those who want to meet with a nurse before signing.
- Submission Responsibilities
Parents/guardians are not responsible for submitting virtual exemptions to schools. These are available to schools through the MCIR system. Families should not be asked to upload or email proof of a virtual exemption. Paper exemptions completed in person must still be turned in by the parent/guardian directly to the school.
We encourage you to share this update with your school community so families are aware of the new virtual option. Families can complete their virtual immunization exemption at bit.ly/LCHDExemptions.
Upcoming Community Events and Opportunities for Students/Parents

LACASA Summer Volunteer Opportunities
LACASA would love to have our students volunteer with them this summer. LACASA Collection, a charity resale boutique, has a particular need for assistance with processing and sorting donations, preparing items for the resale, and even photographing items for their eBay store. No experience is required and they’re happy to provide documentation for NHS, scouting, or whatever a student may need. It’s a great setting for either individuals or groups looking to volunteer together. More information, including contact information can be found here.
