'Cause You Need To Know Now!"

Greetings and Salutations!
Greetings ASASP Members
As we close out this fiscal year, it is my hope that you and your loved ones have a great and wonderful summer. If you haven't already taken some time to enjoy the season, make some plans today. The nation is celebrating it's 250th Birthday this weekend on the 4th of July and there is nothing better than a good party to kick start a vacation. It's hard to believe that I vividly remember the big celebration the country had when we celebrated the 200th Birthday, seems like yesterday.
Please find some time to relax, relate and release from all that you have poured into your work this past school year. You deserve a break, enjoy!
Jeffery Parker, Executive Director ASASP
ASASP Pay Schedules Effective Tomorrow, July 1, 2026
FY 2026 Ends Today, but H.R. Requests ASASP Patience as Placements Continue!
Opportunities Are Still Available
Please read the following message from TAM regarding opportunities that still currently exist. ASASP has been in communication with H.R. to discuss the current status of members. We have been assured that all members will be placed and despite the overlap in time. A small number of members may be placed temporarily even while they may be interviewing and awaiting a response on their status of their interview. Despite the hiccups, no member should be left without a position, at all.

Dear ASASP Team,
As we continue preparations for the upcoming school year, I want to encourage those of you who remain interested in pursuing a voluntary transfer to continue monitoring and applying for available opportunities that align with your experience, skills, and career goals. Although many staffing decisions have already been made, vacancies continue to arise throughout the summer as additional personnel actions occur. New opportunities may become available, and we encourage you to remain engaged in the process. Please continue to regularly visit the PGCPS Careers website and submit applications for positions that interest you. Your interest in exploring new opportunities remains important, and we want to ensure you are aware of positions as they become available. If you have already accepted another position through the interview and selection process or have been placed through the involuntary transfer process, we still encourage you to stay informed of future opportunities that may better align with your long-term professional goals. Thank you for your continued commitment to Prince George's County Public Schools and for your flexibility during this staffing season. We appreciate your dedication and wish you continued success as we prepare for a strong start to the new school year.

What Our Negotiated Agreement Says About Red circling?

3.04 Involuntary Transfers
A. When an involuntary transfer of a unit member is deemed necessary the affected unit member may request and shall be granted a conference with the Superintendent or designee for reviewing the reason(s) for the transfer and to advise the Superintendent/designee his/her preferences concerning reassignment.
B. When an involuntary transfer becomes necessary to fill a vacant position, the Superintendent shall first request in writing a volunteer from within the unit to fill the transfer. The ASASP Executive Director and/or designee shall be notified of the request July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2028 7 for a volunteer. However, if there is no available qualified volunteer, the least senior unit member in that assignment location shall be selected, unless the Superintendent executes her/his authority for the involuntary transfer of a unit member based upon the needs of the school and/or school system. A unit member’s seniority, area of competence and experience will be considered significant factors in the involuntary transfer process.
C. The unit member who is involuntarily transferred for other than less than satisfactory performance and/or disciplinary reasons to a lower position on the salary scale shall have their current salary “red-circled” for a three (3) year period. Should the salary of the lower position increase above the “red-circled” employee’s salary during the three (3) year period, the employee will receive the appropriate salary increase and placement on the salary scale.
D. A unit member who is involuntarily transferred to a lower position on the salary scale due to less than satisfactory performance shall be paid, effective the date of the transfer, at the annual salary of the lower position. However, if the member files an appeal of the transfer within the state mandated timeframe, such unit member shall have his/her salary red-circled (i.e., have their current salary frozen, and would not receive any wage increase at the former grade), until the appeal is decided by the Board of Education of Prince George’s County, for a maximum period of ninety (90) days from the date any such appeal is received. Any extension of the 90-day period must be approved by the Board of Education, at its sole discretion. A unit member involuntarily transferred to a lower position on the salary scale during the school year shall have his/her salary continued for the remainder of the school year per State law.
E. Unit members shall be given an opportunity to discuss their assignments with the appropriate supervisor.
