9th grade Counselor Chats are Underway!
Greetings, 9th Grade Parents!
It’s an exciting time as our 9th Grade Counselor Chats are happening now! 🌟 During these chats, students will meet with their school counselor to begin planning for next school year, discuss potential course options, and explore how their choices connect to their academic and future goals.
📅 Counselor Chats will conclude Friday, October 23, 2026.
This is just the beginning of the planning process! Counselors will meet with students again in the spring to officially select their courses for the 2027–2028 school year. We encourage you to check in with your 9th grader and ask: “Have you had your counselor chat yet? What did you discuss about next year?” These conversations are a great opportunity for students to take an active role in planning their future! If you have questions about your student’s academic plan, please contact the School Counselor at your child’s campus.
Thank you for partnering with us as we help students plan, prepare, and succeed! 💚

Students should keep their signed volunteer logs and submit them to their AVID teacher(s) in the spring to receive their incentives.
Do you want to earn incentives for volunteering???

AVID Middle School in Action
AVID in Action at Fannin Middle School! 💜
AVID strategies, such as collaboration, help students develop essential teamwork and communication skills. At Fannin Middle School, AVID students are taking the lead by teaching their peers, facilitating daily lessons, and guiding open discussions during Bell Ringer activities. Students are assigned to different groups daily to strengthen peer-to-peer collaboration, build confidence, and learn from one another!
AVID in Action at Adams Middle School!
AVID 6th Grade: Getting Organized for Success!
Our 6th Grade AVID students are building habits today that will prepare them for success tomorrow! Students are learning that organization is more than keeping a neat binder—it is an essential skill for becoming an independent, responsible, and successful student.
Through AVID, students are practicing how to organize their binders and materials, manage assignments, use their resources effectively, and take ownership of their learning. These routines help students develop the time-management, preparation, and self-discipline skills they will need throughout middle school, high school, college, and beyond.
For our newest AVID students, the journey is just beginning, but the foundation is being built one organized binder, one assignment, and one good habit at a time!
AVID in Action at GPCI Middle School!
GPCI 7th-grade AVID students visited Texas Christian University (TCU) to explore a college campus and envision their future possibilities. College visits are one of the many benefits of AVID, giving students opportunities to explore colleges and universities as they prepare for college and career success!
AVID in Action at Jackson Middle School
AVID Beyond the Classroom! 💙
AVID students are ready to share their knowledge by bringing AVID strategies and lessons to their non-AVID peers through a new after-school AVID Club! This initiative will provide more students with opportunities to develop essential skills, build confidence, and prepare for future academic success.
AVID in Action Reagan Middle School
Students watched the movie Trolls, wherein they were to pay attention to the challenges, triumphs, relationships, and collaboration between the characters. They created a one-pager on a character of their choosing, wherein they had to list AVID characteristics the character portrayed, a strength and a weakness, an action they took in a situation (good or bad).
AVID in Action Arnold Middle School
To put their learning into practice, students worked collaboratively to sort and categorize questions according to Costa’s Levels. Using their notes and Costa’s House as a guide, students identified the level of each question and justified their thinking to their group members before placing each question in the appropriate column. This activity encouraged students to think critically, communicate their reasoning, and learn from one another.
