Principal's Perspective
I am eternally grateful to have brought our readers this year's Monday Message. The reflections, acknowledgments, recognitions, honors and spotlights are so important to me as your Interim Principal. I am humbled by what we have done and accomplished together this year. I look forward to our continued collaboration next year. Until the next Monday Message - September 15, 2025 - I wish you a wonderful summer of rest and rejuvenation!
The pictures below are from Teacher Appreciation Week back in May. They highlight for me the joy and camaraderie of our staff. Thank you to Mrs. Mathews for taking my staff selfie competition and making these collages.

Health - Skin Cancer Unit
The 10th graders in Health class finished up the year exploring sun safety and skin cancer awareness. We discussed signs that can help alert us to skin damage and what experts refer to as the ABCDE’s of skin cancer and the importance of sunscreen. The students also made bracelets and keychains that have beads that change color when they are in UV light as a fun way to remind them to protect their skin!
They also made UV keychains for Opry to give all the Plymouth County comfort dogs as a reminder to all their friends to wear sunscreen!
HHS Tennis for a Cause
Hingham Varsity Girls Tennis season came to an end on June 11, but not without a fight!
We pulled some inspiration ahead of the match from a young man, Braun Levi from California.
Please see the linked story about the foundation set up in his name.
All that Jazz
And that's a wrap! Last week, the HHS and HMS Jazz Bands closed out a year of performances with a variety of big band, Latin and classic jazz standards, and a lovely reception provided by the Hingham Music Parents Association. The evening also featured several improvised student solos and two student-led small chamber jazz ensembles.

Green Team et al options
The Green Team, Biology Club, and Biology and Environmental Science classes finished assembling new raised beds for our asparagus and strawberries (harvested this month for DNA extraction labs and snacking). We also set up a new mini-corn field and pumpkin patch for fall decoration activities and fundraisers. The Botany and EnviSci class will be adding more beds next year to learn about sustainable agricultural practices: crop rotation, no-till, mulch, compost, and drip irrigation. HPS would like to thank JF Price for a loam/compost discount, as well as Coast of Maine and Weston Nurseries for a donation of raised bed soil! (If interested in volunteering a green thumb or picking up some of our leftover loam at cost, please email hhsgreenteam@hinghamschools.org!)
Last Day Shenanigans
I was delighted to be asked by not one but two classes to capture their last day activities. My photography skills not withstanding it was heartening to see just how connected students and teachers had become over the course of our academic year together. And I like the word shenanigans; to be fair they were not up to anything nefarious - another favorite SAT word.
