Message from Ms. Lahey Message from Ms. Lahey

Greetings Hembree Families!

This week was a busy one, full of wonderful moments and school pride! Our talented first graders truly stole the show with their adorable performance of Three Piggy Opera. They lit up the stage and filled our hearts with joy. A huge thank you to Jennifer Slay for her dedication to our strong music program and for helping our students shine. Performances like these are a beautiful reminder of why working in an elementary school is such a gift.

This week, our first grade students enjoyed an exciting field trip to the zoo. A wonderful time was had by all! We are so grateful to be able to provide experiences like these, allowing our students to engage in hands‑on learning and explore the world beyond the classroom in meaningful ways.

Today, we also celebrated our March Best of the Nest winners. I am so proud of our students for consistently demonstrating our HAWKS expectations—Being Helpful, Accepting Responsibility, Working Together, showing Kindness, and staying Safe. Way to go, Hawks!

We are excited to share that our Third Grade Musical, “It’s a Hit,” will take place next Thursday, April 2nd, at 9:00 a.m. Our students have been practicing diligently, and their hard work has truly paid off. We are looking forward to showcasing their talents and celebrating all they have accomplished.

Our fifth graders are also gearing up for their big field trip on Thursday, April 2nd. The excitement is building, and we know they are going to have an amazing time making memories together.

I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to our incredible parents who generously volunteer their time at Hembree. Many of our parents come in monthly to help run our PBIS carts, rewarding students with prizes for their HAWKS tickets. Your support truly makes a difference and lightens the load for our staff—we appreciate you more than you know! Thank you as well to those who volunteer in so many other ways. If you’re interested in getting more involved, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

We’re also eagerly anticipating Field Day on Friday, April 3rd. It’s always such a fun-filled day watching our students enjoy games, friendly competition, and school spirit. Ms. Marzetti is still seeking some volunteers, please see below for the signup. Fingers crossed for great weather!

Kindergarten registration is now open. If you have a rising kindergartener—or know neighbors or friends who do—please encourage them to register as soon as possible. Early registration is extremely helpful as we plan class placements and prepare our schedules for the upcoming school year.

On a personal note, we celebrated my daughter’s birthday last Sunday. She is my youngest and turned 24—which definitely makes me feel a bit old! Still, I have loved watching her grow into the wonderful woman she is today. Samantha was once a proud Hembree Hawk herself.

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend!

Warm Regards,

Nancy Lahey

Thank you to the parents and community member that attended this week’s input meetings. If you were unable to attend, the PowerPoint is linked here-

Input Meeting Presentation_Parents_2026.pptx (English) Input Meeting Presentation_Parents_2026 Spanish (1).pptx

Parent feedback in past meetings helped create some of our favorite school events, including International Night, the Learning Celebration, and Parent ESOL classes. Your voice really does make a difference!

If you were unable to attend, please take a moment to complete the Parent Input Survey. Right now only 36 surveys have been completed, and we need at least 100 responses.

👉 Share your feedback here:

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) will also use this feedback to help guide programming for next school year, so we truly value your thoughts and ideas.

Thank you for helping make Hembree Springs even better for our students and families! 💙

Beanstack Reading App Beanstack Reading App

Have you heard your child mention anything about an app called Beanstack? It was introduced in the Media Center. Beanstack is a digital reading log that students can use to log the number of minutes they are reading. They can earn badges and rewards along the way. If your child is reading at school, home, daycare, etc. they can log their minutes and help us get closer to our goal. The following is a video explaining how to use Beanstack from home. You can always find your child's lunch number/student number in infinite campus or email Mrs. Soberanis: soberanis@fultonschools.org. Happy Reading!
