PAsmart Focus Group

Over the last three years, the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) awarded more than 400 PAsmart Targeted Grants to Local Education Agencies across the Commonwealth. Each of the 403 PA Smart Targeted Grants focused on professional learning for educators and administrators to expand Computer Science (CS) education for all learners.

The PAsmart Initiative was designed based on feedback from stakeholders across the Commonwealth. Based on our initial efforts, the grant program has impacted diverse communities in all corners of Pennsylvania. To better improve the grant process and the subsequent professional learning that follows for educators, PDE, in collaboration with the American Institutes for Research (AIR), is soliciting feedback from 2018 – 2019 and 2019 – 2020 Targeted grantees in the form of focus group sessions.

These focus groups sessions will capture data points to help the PDE team design the next phase of the PAsmart Initiative and ensure it meets the needs of students, educators, administrators, and communities.
