From the Principal's Desk

Happy New Year Little Viking Families!

I hope you all had a wonderful break. It was relaxing but I missed seeing our students each day! I was so happy to see them return last week. I also want to compliment how FANTASTIC our little learners did on our remote learning days. Online learning can be difficult for some adults, let alone 5-7 year olds. I myself have a kindergartener who was learning from home, and I know the challenges for the students, as well as the parents! Thank you for supporting your children and helping them get online for our two eLearning days.

This past Thursday, myself, and some of our staff and students, gave a presentation to the Board of Education about our school. Thank you to the students who came to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. We also shared a video as part of the presentation and many of our students are included. You can view that HERE.

It was a wonderful presentation and just reminded me once again of how impressed I am of our students and how proud I am to be their principal.

Have a wonderful weekend,

-Mrs. Scanlan

Snack Time Snack Time

Don't forget to pack a snack!

Just a friendly reminder that we do not have extra snacks for students at school. We have a large amount of students each day that are not coming to school with a snack. Sometimes they take an item from their lunch or go without. Please remember to send your child to school with a snack daily or reach out to the school if you are in need of any assistance. Thank you!

CALLING ALL FUTURE KINDERGARTENERS! CALLING ALL FUTURE KINDERGARTENERS!

Baby it's cold outside! Baby it's cold outside!

Make sure students dress for the weather!

It is that time of year when temperatures drop, snow falls, or it's warm and sunny! (It is the midwest after all!)
Please remember to dress for the weather as we enter these colder months. For students to play in the snow at school they need: Coat, Hat/hood, gloves, snow pants, and boots. Otherwise they will play on the blacktop for recess.

We go outside as long as we are within the safe zones of the Child Care Weather Watch Chart included below. Please make sure your students have what they need to be comfortable during outdoor recess!

Lunch Balances Lunch Balances

Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances

Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. You can also send cash or check payment to school with your child in a marked envelope with name and what payment is for. The office will then account for the cash or check payment on your student's Skyward.

Labeling Items Labeling Items

Lost and Found

Please be sure to label your student's sweatshirts, coats, hats and gloves with their name. This is the best way to ensure a misplaced item gets back to you. We already have an abundance of items in the lost and found.

Late Arrivals Late Arrivals

Attention Parents - School doors open at 7:40 am. There is no staff supervision prior to this time. Classes start at 7:50 am.

Students who come in late find it harder to establish a good morning routine at school. Teachers are beginning instruction and a late student is missing out. Thank you for your assistance in making sure your students arrive to school on time!

Standard Response Protocol

Salt Creek District 48 has adopted a new emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.

Payments & Fees Payments & Fees

TECHNOLOGY FEE

You can make payment for your child's school fees through RevTrak by signing on to Skyward. If you do not see a tech fee in RevTrak please contact the school office your child will attend. Please see below for RevTrak payments. You can also come in and make payment by cash or check to any school in our district.

Thank you in advance.

A New Way to Pay Fees in Skyward

NO MORE E-PAY! We have rolled out a new way to pay for lunches, school fees and activity fees for students. You can sign up here https://saltcreek48.revtrak.net/. Or you can go to your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.

Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.

Please make sure to notify Angie Holden at Salt Creek Primary if your child will be absent, arriving late, or being dismissed early. It is helpful to contact your child's teacher in these matters as well, but it is very important to contact the office! If you have any doctor's notes, please send those to our health office staff.
