A Glimpse Into English 9/10: A Classroom of Growth and Engagement
In English 9/10, students are finishing up the year by reflecting about what they have learned and making connections to the real world. Throughout the year, theyโve learned to read for information, find credible sources, fact-check, and use evidence to support their claimsโskills that are essential for academic and personal growth.
One of the most powerful takeaways from the course has been the students' growing ability to read for a purpose. As one student shared: โI never used to want to read, and then I read One Piece, and I've never wanted to put it down since.โ The class focuses on reading critically, encouraging students to analyze texts for information and use it to support their arguments, a skill that helps them in both academic writing and real-world decision-making.
Additionally, students have become more adept at evaluating the credibility of sources and fact-checking. โI put in more effort this year to grow my writing abilities. I am proud of how my writing skills grew,โ one student commented. This emphasis on using evidence to back up claims is essential in developing strong analytical and communication skills.
Finally, many students have discovered a lifelong love for reading, a skill that will continue to enrich their lives long after graduation. โI didnโt love reading, but I finally got the freedom to find a book I actually liked,โ one student shared. English 9/10 has provided them with the tools to become lifelong readers, capable of finding the texts that resonate with them personally and professionally.
Through a combination of critical thinking, research skills, and the joy of reading, students in English 9/10 are well-equipped for the challenges ahead, both in school and beyond.

Message from the Health Office
The school district cannot take responsibility for medications at school once school is out, and in most cases, we cannot send medications home with a student. Please follow one of the following options for managing medications.
Come by the school now and pick up all the medications your child will be unable to use before the last day of school, leaving us with the right number of doses to finish the school year.
Pick up the medications prior to or on the last day of school before May 22, 2025. The last day is a half-day and, in general, no routine medications are given that day.
Notify us to dispose of any leftover medications on the last day of school.
Make arrangements with health office staff to pick up medications after the last day of school.
Parents will need to come to the health office to pick up the unused portion of medications. In accordance with Board of Health Guidelines, all medication that remains in the health office after school is out will be destroyed unless the parent has made other arrangements for pickup.
