Senior Parking Spot Painting!

There was plenty of excitement at The Wood this weekend! Our seniors braved the classic Lowcountry heat and humidity to paint their parking spots, and the creativity on display was nothing short of impressive. Their designs—and the pride they put into them—set the tone for an unforgettable final year at WHS.

We even had a special visit from Mrs. Bevins, her daughters, and their bearded dragon, adding a fun surprise to an already lively day.

Community Resource Center Food Drive!

On Saturday, the Community Resource Center hosted an enormous food drive at Woodland High School. Our campus was busy with volunteers and families as the CRC worked to distribute as many resources as possible to the community.

The food drive takes place on the last Saturday of every month at 11:00 AM, and all community members are welcome to attend.

To stay connected or learn more, be sure to visit the Community Resource Center’s Facebook page.

Athletics and the Marching Wolverines!

Last week our PTSA kicked things off with spirited membership drives during registration and again during school lunches, giving parents and students a fun and easy way to join the Woodland Family. Our MGM Band Booster Club and our Marching Wolverines showed up in full force at Thursday's Varsity Football Scrimmage—and their spirit was unmistakable! Their presence brought energy, pride, and support to the sidelines as our Wolverines powered through a dominant win. The Wood was loud, proud, and Wolverine strong. More great nights are ahead.

Parents - A Note on Personal Electronic Devices and Dress Code

Parents and Guardians,

We need your support in ensuring that students arrive each day dressed appropriately for school and are not using personal electronic devices during the instructional day. Inappropriate clothing, head coverings that are not for religious or medical purposes, and the use of phones or earbuds in class or hallways are violations of school and district policy. Please remind your student that these infractions do result in consequences.

While we are glad to see students feeling more comfortable around campus, we must remain consistent in upholding all state mandates and district expectations. Your partnership at home helps us maintain a safe, orderly, and focused learning environment for every Wolverine.

Sign-Out Time

Parents and Guardians,

Please be reminded that student sign‑outs must occur before 3:10 PM each school day. While we understand that appointments and emergencies do arise, any early dismissal must be completed prior to this time.

After 3:10 PM, our staff transitions into end‑of‑day procedures to ensure a safe and orderly dismissal for all students. Some team members also serve as bus drivers, and late sign‑outs disrupt both supervision and transportation operations. To maintain smooth systems and provide the best service possible, we cannot accommodate sign‑outs after 3:10 PM.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work together to keep our dismissal process safe, efficient, and consistent.

State Mandates and Grading Scale

State Mandates Update

The following items were addressed in the Meet the Principal Night regarding the updated state mandates for the school year:

  1. Grade Floors - Beginning this school year, the South Carolina Department of education has eliminated the grading floor. As a result, grades will more accurately reflect each student's demonstrated learning and academic performance, ensuring that grading practices align with state expectations and academic standards.
  2. Content/Credit Recovery - In order for a student to be eligible to participate in a district-approved content recovery program, a student must have completed all required assignments for the relevant area of the course in a manner consistent with district policies for timely submission of student work.
