A Message from the Principal
Just repeating some reminders from last week and adding a few additional ones.
Please Remind Students: Take Only What Belongs to Them
We are starting to see some issues with students taking papers or items that are not theirs. Please take a moment to look through your child’s backpack and make sure they do not have anything that does not belong to them. We also ask that you remind them about respecting others’ belongings and only taking items that are theirs.
Thank you for helping us reinforce responsibility and respect at school!
We had a few more Chromebooks damaged this week, many of which are happening because students are not keeping their hands to themselves or are handling others’ belongings. Please take a moment to talk with your child about the importance of being kind and respectful to one another—both in their words and actions.
Remind them that kindness includes treating school property and classmates’ belongings with care. A quick conversation at home goes a long way in helping create a positive and respectful school environment for everyone!
Reminders-
Athletic Events:
To attend school-sponsored events, students must be in good standing—no F’s, no suspensions, and no attendance issues. Encourage your student to stay on track so they can take part in all the fun activities and events this year!
Absences:
If your child will be absent, it is the parent’s responsibility to contact the office by 9:00 a.m. Please do not email teachers directly about absences, as they are busy with classes and the message doesn’t always make it to the office.
ASAP:
As always, this is an option for your students to get support on missing work and to get their grades brought up. We have ASAP from 3:30-4:30 pm Monday-Thursday. Reminder: Students who have 2 or more Fs are not eligible to participate in or attend school activities.
Thank you for helping us keep things running smoothly!

Family Resources:
We understand that the recent changes to SNAP benefits may create challenges for some families. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if your family could use information about local food, financial, or community support resources. Our goal is to ensure every student and family has what they need to thrive.
If you would like more information or assistance connecting with local resources, feel free to contact me directly at payton.andrews@usd340.org.
Motivation Strategies:
As we enter the 2nd quarter, some students may find it harder to stay motivated and focused. Partnering together makes a big difference, so I’m sharing this resource from the Child Mind Institute with strategies families can use to encourage motivation and confidence in learning: How to Help Your Child Get Motivated in School

Tiger Talk with the Assistant Principal- Mr. Alan
Hello Families,
As part of my new role as assistant principal, I am closely tracking attendance and working to make sure we are all on the same page about what different types of absences mean and how they are handled. To help, I’ve created a simple Attendance Fact Sheet that explains the different categories of attendance and how we use this information to support students and communicate with families.
Whether your student is absent for illness, a family reason, or another circumstance, this guide will help you understand how we record it and why it matters. Clear communication about attendance is a key part of keeping students on track for success.
If you know that your child will be absent or arriving late, please contact the office directly so they can record their attendance accurately. While our teachers appreciate when students give them a heads-up, this information doesn’t always get communicated or recorded correctly.
Please view the Attendance Fact Sheet below. If you have questions about attendance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
