Dear LMS Families,

As we welcome February, I want to take a moment to celebrate the great start we’ve had to the second semester. While the winter months can be challenging, students have settled well into their routines, and classrooms are focused and productive.

Please continue to monitor your students' progress through Parent Vue. In addition, continue to reinforce the importance of your student monitoring their Student Vue account. From all of us at LMS, thank you for your continued support and partnership in your student's educational journey.

1st Semester Student Honors Recognition

We are excited to announce that LMS will be recognizing students for their exceptional performance in the first semester. Students will be recognized in the areas of all A’s, A and B Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, and Perfect S.O.A.R.scores (4’s in every class). This will be for the entire first semester, and not individual quarters. Any of the listed recognitions are a testament to your students' hard work, dedication, and commitment to educational excellence. The ceremony to celebrate these accomplishments will be held during the mornings of:

Wednesday, February 18th (6th Grade)

Thursday, February 19th (7th Grade)

Friday, February 20th (8th Grade)

The ceremonies will begin at approximately 7:45 a.m. and will be located in the LMS gymnasium. I envision the ceremony lasting around 20 minutes. We ask that family members enter through the 6th grade entrance at the west end of the building and report directly to the gymnasium and find a seat in the bleachers on the west end of the gymnasium. Students will sit on the opposite side of the gymnasium and will be called up to receive their awards, they will then walk directly in front of the parent/guardian section for a quick picture. We will also be taking a group photo at the end of the ceremony.

We will be sending notifications to individual parents/guardians whose student will be receiving an award. This notification will be sent out Friday, February 6th, by the end of the school day. If you feel that your student deserves an award and you did not receive notification, please call the main office 810-591-0711 by Thursday, February 12th so we can make adjustments prior to the ceremonies.

Even though not every student will be recognized, we believe it is important for students to congratulate their peers by attending. This will hopefully inspire them to strive to earn recognition in future events.

To avoid having to park in non designated parking areas, we will have additional parking for the event on the north side of the building (bus drop off/pick up area). The gate from the LMS entrance will open around 7:30 a.m., once the busses have dropped off students. Please do not park in this area prior to 7:30 a.m.

Please refrain from parking in the grass areas and shoulders of the roadways. We look forward to celebrating the successes of our students with you. Thank you!

Counselor's Corner

February 2-6 is National School Counseling Week. School counselors are specially trained educators who can assist with academic, career, and social-emotional development. Please see the graphic below for more information on the role of the school counselor.

State Trooper Make-Up Dates:

Due to snow days and scheduling conflicts, the Michigan State Troopers presentations have been moved to February. Troopers will be visiting all grade level Social Studies classes to present on some important and relevant topics.

  • Thursday 2/5 - 8th graders will learn about the risks associated with vaping as well as cyber safety.
  • Friday 2/6 - 7th graders will learn about the dangers and signs of human trafficking. They will also learn how to protect themselves with their online behavior.
  • Tuesday 2/10- 6th graders will learn about cyber bullying and cyber safety.

LMS Families,

We have had a great start to the 2nd semester here at LMS with a lot of fun things happening. We concluded our class meetings last week and celebrated our students who had zero referrals on Thursday 1/29/2026. Even though it was a cold walk down, our students had a blast in the multi-purpose building with their friends. We will continue to plan fun things for students who are making right decisions daily!

One thing I would love to communicate with you is the number of discipline referrals we have had this school year. The first three months of the year did not start off great with our student body receiving the most referrals we have had in the past three years. Since October ended, the months of November, December, and January have been great. We went from the worst start in the last three years, to the best 3 months of behavior in the past three years. Our students have risen to the expectations of what it means to be a Linden Middle School student and hold themselves and their peers accountable for their actions. The amount of students who report things to adults before they happen cannot be ignored. The reason the school runs the way it does is due to the students holding themselves accountable. It really is a special thing to be a part of!

Our expectations will remain high for the remainder of the year. We will continue to build positive relationships and make this a great place for students to be. Even though it is a tough time of life for a lot of individuals, we want to give our students a very positive experience in their middle school years. As always, please reach out if you ever need any support.
