We wrapped up the 3rd quarter with excitement and celebration! On Wednesday, we recognized our Pack Leaders of the Month for March—students who consistently demonstrated the character trait of Respect. Congratulations to all our honorees!
Today, we closed out the week with a special ribbon cutting ceremony in honor of a major achievement: TVMS has been named one of the top winners of the Takis Back-to-School Recycling Challenge, a nationwide competition hosted by TerraCycle. Thanks to months of hard work from our community collecting used Takis packaging, we earned first place and were awarded a custom learning garden featuring a garden bed, flower planters, and a compost bin—each made partially from the recycled packaging we gathered.
A huge shout-out to Ms. Rice, our G/T Resource Teacher, and our incredible Green Team students for leading this effort. You can catch us featured in today’s Baltimore Sun and a clip on WBAL TV News!
Tonight our students will enjoy the Spring Fling-- our school dance. It is sure to be a fun night.
We’re proud of our students and staff for ending the quarter strong and can’t wait to kick off the 4th and final quarter on Monday!
Have a wonderful weekend.

Student Service Learning Update
As part of 6th and 7th grade third quarter science units, students have engaged in a Curricular Embedded Student Service Learning (SSL) experience. When students pass these courses in the third quarter, the 25 hours for SSL will be issued and will appear on the student report card. Similarly, there is a project in grade 8 social studies during the fourth quarter that will be documented this way. This is an updated process to ensure all students who have engaged in these learning experiences in middle school will be issued the hours if they pass that quarter. Students who do not pass the quarter of a course or are not enrolled in SSL embedded instruction will not receive hours. These students will have the opportunity to engage in high school courses that include SSL and/or engage in high school independent SSL projects. 75 Hours of SSL are required by MSDE for graduation and more information can be found on the HCPSS website here: https://www.hcpss.org/academics/service-learning/
Survey on Student Personal Devices Policy Adjustments, Open Through April 16
On March 3, 2025, HCPSS implemented adjustments to Board of Education Policy 8080 Responsible Use of Technology, Digital Tools, and Social Media; specifically, guidelines pertaining to student use of personal devices during the school day.
Per the updated Board policy, all students must keep personal technology devices away and silenced, and ensure they are not a distraction during the student day. Exceptions include smart watches, laptops in high school, and when allowed as defined in a student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP), Section 504 Plan, or Health Plan. Policy violations result in the confiscation of the personal technology device. More information on the policy adjustments is available online.
! Share Your Feedback !
HCPSS students, staff, parents/guardians and family members are encouraged to provide input on implementation, and any impact they may have seen as a result. Please complete a brief online survey. The survey will close on Wednesday, April 16.
