WBES Mission: Inspire, Engage, Empower
Whitesburg Parents and Guardians,
We had a great week of teaching and learning.
Our Color Run is quickly approaching, and we want to make sure every student is ready to celebrate in style!
To ensure we have enough supplies for everyone, we only order exactly what is preordered. We want every child to feel included when the gear is distributed, so now is the perfect time to secure your student’s items.
What to look for in the shop:
The "Must-Haves": The official Color Run T-shirt and color packets are our most popular items. Nearly every student will be wearing the shirt and tossing color, and we want your child to be part of that "rainbow" experience!
Extra Fun: We also have a variety of fun accessories and gear for sale that the kids absolutely love.
Skip the Line: While we will have a limited amount of extra color powder available for purchase on the day of the race, please keep in mind that there will be a line. We want our students out on the course enjoying the race with their friends, not spending their run time waiting in line to buy supplies!
Shine Bright Whitesburg!
Thanks,
Mrs. Jones

The Quest For School Breakfast
National School Breakfast Week Campaign Encourages Students to Try School Breakfast
To encourage more families to take advantage of the healthy choices available with school breakfast, Huntsville City Schools will celebrate National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) during March 2-6, 2026.
Busy weekday mornings make it a challenge for many families to find time for a healthy breakfast.
Fortunately, Huntsville City schools offer nutritious school breakfasts, complete with fruit and low-fat or fat-free milk, to ensure students are fueled for learning every school day. Students can get breakfast through the Breakfast in the Classroom (BIC) program, receive a second-chance breakfast for late arrivals, or visit the cafeteria before the start of the first class each school day.
The 2026 NSBW campaign theme, "The Quest For School Breakfast," reminds the entire school community that school breakfast provides a healthy and energizing start to the day for students. Studies show that students who eat school breakfast are more likely to:
· Reach higher levels of achievement in reading and math
· Score higher on standardized tests
· Have better concentration and memory
· Be more alert
· Maintain a healthy weight
School nutrition professionals and students will be encouraged to show their enthusiasm for school breakfast from March 2-6 as the district celebrates NSBW with special menus, activities, and more. During NSBW, the Child Nutrition Program will introduce the Power Start smoothie to enhance participation and acceptability and increase the number of breakfast meals served. We will also ask staff to dress up as their favorite storybook hero or villain during NSBW.
“A healthy breakfast at the start of the day is a great way to ensure students are nourished and ready to learn," said Henry Ward, Child Nutrition Programs. "National School Breakfast Week helps us educate parents and students about all the nutritious and delicious choices we offer."
We offer a wide variety of healthy breakfast items throughout the district, including whole fresh fruits, assorted fruit cups, low-fat milk, whole-grain cereals, breakfast bars, granola, yogurt, hot entrées such as sausage biscuits, fruit juices, and more. The breakfast program has remained successful this school year, serving over 881,698 breakfast meals.
About National School Breakfast Week
National School Breakfast Week was launched in 1989 to raise awareness of the availability of the School Breakfast Program, a federally assisted meal program operating in public and non-profit private schools and residential childcare institutions since 1975.
WALKERS - Important!!
Dear Parents and Guardians of Student Walkers,
At the beginning of this school year, each family of a student walker signed a Walker Agreement outlining the expectations for dismissal. This agreement is designed to ensure the safety of our students and to maintain a respectful relationship with our neighbors at the church, whose property we are permitted to use.
Recently, we have observed several concerning behaviors that violate this agreement:
Lack of Supervision: Many students are arriving at the church parking lot with no parent or guardian present to receive them.
Property Disrespect: Students have been observed running through the parking lot and on the grassy areas of the church. Per our agreement, students must stay off private church property and remain in the designated pickup area.
Treatment of Staff: Our crossing guards do an exceptional job of keeping your children safe. It is unacceptable for parents to be rude or disrespectful to them when they are enforced to bring unsupervised students back to the school building for their safety.
Immediate Policy Enforcement
Effective immediately, we will be strictly enforcing the terms of the Walker Agreement. Please take note of the following:
The "Two-Strike" Rule: If a student is brought back to the school office because a parent is not present to supervise them, it will be documented. If this occurs a second time, the student's walking privilege will be revoked immediately.
Mandatory Car Line: Once walking privileges are revoked, the student must be picked up through the standard afternoon car line for the remainder of the school year (or be a bus rider).
Respect for Crossing Guards: Any parent found to be disrespectful to our crossing guards or school staff during dismissal will face immediate revocation of their student's walking privileges.
Our crossing guards are fantastic and work hard to ensure a safe transition from our campus to yours. We must work together to ensure that our students are supervised, safe, and respectful of the property owners who allow us to use their space.
Thank you for your immediate cooperation in following these safety protocols.
Families and Schools Together (FAST)
This is a fabulous program for parental education and support. We will have dinner and there are prizes. The parents who have participated in the past have loved it.
Teacher Wishlists and Favorites
I know a lot of you want to help your teachers, but just do not know how. Please see the link below to see all of the teacher's favorites things and also their Classroom Wishlists. Please encourage your teacher throughout the year. Little "happy's" can make their day!
Students cannot be dropped off in the parking lots for arrival-This is unsafe!

Slushies
We will sell slushies each Friday afternoon.
· $1 for 5oz cup
· $5 for souvenir Whitesburg Elementary Plastic Cup. This cup can be reused each Friday for a $2 refill.
(Slushie Friday's intention is not a fundraiser. It is for student encouragement and celebration. However, we do make a little money off of the sales, and that money goes into WBES's General Budget and is used for student incentives.)
Bullying
Any intentional and repeated act of unwanted aggressive or demeaning behavior involving a real or perceived power imbalance, in which one or more people intentionally and repeatedly cause physical or psychological harm to another person. To be considered bullying, the conduct must also place a student in reasonable fear of harm or of damage to property, have the effect of substantially interfering with educational performance or school operations, or create a hostile, intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment.
