Tiger Talk
August 31st, 2025

We made it!
Tiger families, I just wanna tell you how absolutely wonderful your kiddos are! We truly have some of the best there are! We are focusing on GRIT when it comes to doing hard things and these kiddos are pouring into their own learning and growth. I could not be more proud!
For the month of September we will recognize Respectful students. If your child does something that stands out to you as respectful we'd love to hear about it and share it with our entire Elementary at our morning zoom meeting. Message Ms. Dana or myself on the Rooms app or send us an email so we can celebrate the good stuff! warrenb@smithton.k12.mo.us or northd@smithton.k12.mo.us
Remember we are not in session tomorrow, Monday, September 22nd!
The Good Stuff
IMPORTANT INFORMATION (Repeat from last week)
There are a few topics we need to address as we strive to be consistent in our practices and work to maximize instructional time, ensure student supervision, and run as efficiently as possible here in the elementary. If you have further questions please don't hesitate to reach out!
1. Microwaves- Microwaves may be used by our 5th and 6th grade students only. We currently do not have the staff available to assist with microwaving for our k-4 students. We've had a few large mishaps with students attempting to do this on their own, so adult supervision is a requirement. Additionally, the amount of time our students have to eat is about 20 minutes. When waiting in line for the microwave and using it for items that take three plus minutes to prepare our students aren't having adequate time to eat and socialize.
2. Energy Drinks- Elementary students are not allowed to have energy drinks at school. These should not be brought for any reason.
3. Vending Machines- The Vending machine is for use by 7th-12th grade during the school day. Boys and Girls Club may allow this on Mondays or after school, but otherwise k-6 students will not have regular access. However, we do plan to make the use of the vending a PBS incentive in which students can cash in tiger tickets to use.
4. Student Council Coffee and Snack and Sip- Our Elementary Student Council will begin selling Coffee twice a month in the near future for our 4th-6th grade students. Additionally, they will host a snack and sip for our k-3rd students. Our High school student council does sale coffee on Wednesday mornings, however it is not for purchase by Elementary students.
