Dear Thunderbird Families,

As Veterans Day approaches, our school community takes great pride in pausing to reflect, honor, and express our deepest gratitude to all the brave men and women who have served in our nation's Armed Forces. We are especially grateful for the veterans, active-duty service members, and military families within our very own Thunderbird community whose sacrifice, dedication, and leadership inspire us every day. Many of our Thunderbird students are bravely supporting their serving family members.

Our students and staff are buzzing with excitement for our upcoming Veterans Day celebration! Opportunities like this allow our students to live out our SOAR values in a powerful way as they practice respect, gratitude, and citizenship.

Thank you to all who have served, and thank you to our families for partnering with us to teach our young learners the importance of honoring our heroes.

We encourage all our Thunderbird to wear Red, White, and Blue on Wednesday, November 11th for Veterans Day!

Proudly serving you,

Sonia Hurd, Principal

Katie Lee and Brian McMahon, Assistant Principals

National School Psychology Week

This week, we are proud to celebrate National School Psychology Week, and we want to extend a huge thank-you to our wonderful school psychologist, Mr. Wootten!

Mr. Wootten works hard every day to support our scholars’ social-emotional growth, mental health, and academic success, helping ensure that every student feels safe, heard, and valued in our building.

If Mr. Wootten has supported your child or family this year, we encourage you and your student to send a quick note of appreciation or give him a warm thank-you this week. We are so grateful for his dedication to our Thunderbird community!

As of the 2026-2027 school year, parent lunch visits are no longer permitted at HCPSS schools due to safety concerns. Given the number of parents who visit our school during American Education Week, we can only accommodate classroom visits—we cannot make exceptions to allow for visits during lunch. In addition, parents are not permitted to attend recess. Please plan your visit accordingly based on your child’s class schedule.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you during your child’s class time for American Education Week.
