Academy Announcements

Dear Academy families and friends,

I hope this message finds you well and in the midst of the most outstanding summer ever. As of tomorrow, we are officially one month away of opening day for our students (September 5, 2023). I hope you, like me, can't wait to see our school community come together to begin another great school year.

I wanted to send a message today with some brief but important updates for our families. With the summer activities, sports, traveling etc, I know it can seem like a long ways away, but the first day of school will be here before we know it.

For all of our returning families, thank you for your continued support and for all of our new families joining Academy, I am excited to begin this journey with you and your families.

All the best (and make every last second of summer count)!

Mr. Higgins

Updates

Class Placements

The classroom placements for the 2023-24 school year will be released through the Aspen Family Portal on Friday, August 25, 2023.

Supplies for SY23-24 School Year

The school will be providing pencils, crayons and other needed items for all students this year. Parents are always asking what else might my child need? We would encouraged parents to provide items like backpacks, lunchboxes, pocket folders and pencil cases to help carry and organize their supplies, some other suggestions would be to bring their own set of scissors or headphones (if they have special preferences beyond a typical classroom set). This would help make the year kick off to a smooth start. As always, teachers appreciate donations of paper towels, wipes, and kleenex, because... working with kids can be messy!

Summer Reading, Summer Math & Lexia

Summer Reading

Summer Math

ST Math and Lexia are always on for our students to use and sharpen their skills throughout the summer.

Transportation Information

Please visit the WPS Transportation website. Applications can and should still be completed if you will need transportation for your child. Transportation is only available for students who live outside the half mile radius from the school.

Bus Application

Once classroom placements are out, families will received a google form to let us know your dismissal plans for your child at the end of each school day.

Food Services

More information regarding free/reduced lunch will be coming out over the next few weeks.

School Council Representatives

As we start off a new school year, we will be looking for two parents to serve on our School Council. The School Council is a partnership of school, family, and community team members that work together in planning/improving our school. Please email Mr. Higgins at patrick.higgins@weymouthps.org if you are interested.

Summer Communications

As always please be sure to follow our social media pages. We have Facebook and Twitter as additional outlets for information (QR codes are located on the tabs at the bottom of this newsletter). As we near the last week of August, please be sure to check you email frequently for any up-to-the-minute releases from the school. Our goal is to reach each and every family effectively.
