10/23/26 NYOS Elementary Newsletter
Message from the Principal
As we moved through another week, our Jags continued to explore new ideas, take on challenges, and put their learning into action. It is always exciting to see their curiosity, effort, and determination shine in the classroom!
Tomorrow is Jag Fest! I hope to see you there as we come together to make wonderful memories, enjoy the festivities, and celebrate the amazing spirit of our NYOS community. It’s always special when our families, students, and staff come together to share in the fun. Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing you there!
With Jag Pride,
Donida Garcia 🐾💙

Attendance Matters!
October is Attendance Matters Month at NYOS! From October 6–30, we're challenging every Jaguar, PK–12, to miss no more than one day of school. It's an exciting month to be a Jaguar, with Red Ribbon Week celebrating healthy choices at our elementary campus and Homecoming Week bringing the spirit to our secondary campus. Strong attendance builds both academic success and school spirit, and we want every student here for all of it.
Students who stay on track will earn recognition along the way, including a Free Perk Friday on October 23 and Blueprint Builder wristbands and certificates on October 30. Every grade level that reaches its attendance goal will celebrate together in November. Families, thank you for being our partners! We want our Jaguars here every day, learning, growing, and celebrating with their friends and teachers. Your encouragement at home makes all the difference, and we're cheering on every student to show up, finish strong, and earn every reward. Every day counts!
***This week was our Free Perk Friday - Pajama Day Pass!!!!!
Counselors’ Corner: Discovering Your Personal Mission
This week, our students have been exploring the idea of a personal mission statement and thinking about the kind of person they want to become. A personal mission can help guide our choices, especially when we face challenges or difficult decisions. We have also been hearing from student leaders as they share their own personal missions. At home, ask your child, “What kind of person do you want to be?” Encourage them to think about the values and qualities that are most important to them and how they can put those values into action each day.
Red Ribbon is Next Week: October 26–30!
Please check out the attached flyers for all the details on our upcoming Red Ribbon Week from October 26th to October 30th!
We are focusing on making positive, healthy choices for our minds and bodies, taking care of our friendships, and showing up as everyday heroes.
Check out the schedule so your student can dress up and participate in our themed days all week long!
