Happy New Year!
Dear YCIS Community,
Thank you all for a fantastic start to the year! January was filled with meaningful learning and growth, and it has been wonderful to see our students thrive.
This month, we reached an exciting milestone—100 days of school! Each class took time to reflect on their learning journey, celebrating the progress and achievements they have made. It’s incredible to witness how much our students have grown, and we look forward to many more days of discovery and success ahead.
We hope everyone had a joyful Chinese New Year holiday with family and friends this week (1/29)! As the celebrations continue, we warmly invite you to join us for the 2025 YCIS Chinese New Year Celebration next Saturday, February 8th. This special event is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, honoring our traditions with performances, activities, and festive spirit.
Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement. We look forward to celebrating with you next weekend and in the days ahead!
Warm regards,
Kevin & Vivian

Early Childhood Education (ECE)
Chinese New Year on the ECE Campus
The ECE campus is filled with excitement as Chinese New Year approaches. Red lanterns adorn the hallways, and the aroma of dumplings fills the air. Students are eagerly learning about the rich traditions of the holiday, from the significance of red envelopes (hongbao) to the symbolism behind the lion and dragon dances. They're discovering the culinary delights of the New Year feast (dumplings, mooncake, and more), firecrackers, and the stories behind the holiday's customs (such as the animals of the Zodiac). The campus has transformed into a vibrant celebration of Chinese culture, fostering understanding and appreciation for this important festival. We have also been busing preparing for our CNY performance on Saturday, February 8th! Looking forward to celebrating with the whole YCIS community and welcoming the Year of the Snake!
Elementary (Kindergarten - 4th Grade)
Our campus is alive with the festive spirit of Chinese New Year! GISSV students were warmly invited to experience the vibrant practice sessions of the traditional lion and dragon dances. This special event offers a wonderful opportunity for cultural exchange and fosters meaningful connections with our neighboring school.
Our dedicated Chinese teachers also organized a variety of engaging activities to mark the occasion. We also invited families, including grandparents, to celebrate with students. Students fully immersed themselves in the rich cultural traditions of the New Year, making the event both meaningful and memorable.
YCIS Speech & Read Aloud Contest: A Celebration of Talent & Confidence
The 3rd YCIS Speech & Read Aloud Contest was a tremendous success! Our students impressed the audience with their eloquence, confidence, and expressive reading. The event opened with an outstanding performance by our KA ,1st-grade students and former winners in 2nd grade, who truly set the stage for an inspiring competition.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all participants and especially to those who will be representing YCIS at the ANCCS event. Their hard work and dedication have paid off, and we are incredibly proud of them!
The awarding ceremony will take place on February 3rd at 8:15 AM during the assembly. Attached please see the awarding list. We warmly invite parents to join us in celebrating our students' achievements.
This event not only highlights our students' growth in language skills but also reinforces our commitment to fostering a love for learning and public speaking. Thank you to our wonderful YCIS community for your continuous support!
Middle School (5th- 7th Grade)
The middle school Journalism elective provides an engaging opportunity to develop communication, writing, and critical thinking skills. Students will sharpen their ability to listen actively, conduct research and fieldwork, and create pieces across multiple genres. This course is ideal for those interested in storytelling and the influence of media. Recently, our middle school students showcased their skills by writing reviews recommending their favorite travel destinations or upcoming movies.
Attached are some reviews by the students.
