A win in November is a win for Burke County, a win for educators across the whole state, and a win for NC progressives. Our platform centers on three core ideals: Education, the Environment, and Equality.

Education: Students and communities deserve well-funded public schools staffed by qualified and well-compensated educators. The bleeding of public schools by special interests and privateers will STOP. We will push for class size reduction, reinstatement of Master's pay, reinstating teacher assistants, and shoring up retiree benefits. Our opponent is the chairman of the education appropriations committee and, with your support, you can win back your voice for public education.
Environment: Our opponent is a member of ALEC (a conservative think tank supplying hateful legislation and monetary incentives to legislators) and receives funding from Duke Energy; the same corporation lobbying to reduce water quality standards, the same corporation who dumps coal ash and looks to expand coal energy production, and the same corporation behind on removing dangerous waste from NC. We will reinstate the solar energy tax incentives and pass legislation to protect our state from fracking.
Equality: We believe that equality is central to the future of NC. This means more than just the bathroom. Equality means access to services for women and minorities, freedom from fear from hateful anti-labor legislation, it means being able to fight against injustice, and it means freedom for people to live their lives.

About Me

My wife Angel and I moved here 15 years ago and made Morganton our home. We have a son and a home-farm. As career educators, we have seen, first hand, the attack on education, the environment, and equality. We want a better North Carolina for your family and for ours.
