    Label Items

Please label all of students items with initials so we can easily identify their items to return them if they are misplaced.

    Counselor's Corner

November was filled with career exploration for all grades from career parades to interest inventories and even a look at some dirty jobs! As winter settles in and the holiday season is quickly approaching students and their families may begin to feel stress from the hustle and bustle along with the cold weather. Classroom lessons will focus on identifying feelings and coping skills that go along with those feelings, especially those feelings and coping skills surrounding the upcoming winter break.

    Meet Mrs. Lawrence!

I am Mandi Lawrence, this is my fourth year in education and my first year at Minnewaukan Public School, I am a 2nd grade teacher. I am married to Robert who also works for Minnewaukan Public School as a High School Interventionist. We are about to celebrate our first anniversary. We have a beautifully blended family that includes Alionna, who is 17 and a senior at MPS, Presley who is 9, and Harrison who is 8. In our free time, we love to spend time on the lake, attend Bison FB games (horns up!), and travel (mostly to basketball tournaments). My top 2 personal hobbies are reading and shopping. I am excited to be at MPS and looking forward to having a great year filled with learning, both the students and myself!

    Meet Mrs. Groven

I graduated from Valley City State University with a Bachelor of Elementary Education.

I graduated from University of North Dakota with a Master Degree in Special Education.

I have taught for 21 years in special education. This is my second year teaching special education at

    Minnewaukan.

I have been married to my husband, Steve, for 28 years.

My son, Samuel, will be 22 years old this month and is in his senior year at Valley City State University.

I enjoy reading books, coloring, riding bicycles, and hiking.

    MPS Heritage Day

The Minnewaukan Public School's Culture Committee organized and hosted a heritage day on November 23rd. The students in grades 3-12 chose two topics they wanted to learn more about. Some of these topics included making dream catchers, beading, Pow Wow Dancing, Dakota Language, drumming, making fry bread, and archery. Special guests were Doug Yankton, Mark Mindt, Mathew Deal, and high school students Zaeona Redfox, Denali Littlewind, and Allura Greybear.

Students in grades K-2 had a special presentation from KODA the Warrior, Mark Mindt. The high school Intro to Teaching class read a Native American book to students in lower elementary grades and guided them to design their own tipi.
