Principal's Message
Dear Students, Families, and Staff-
As we wrap up another school year, I want to take a moment to recognize the dedication and resilience of our students, staff, and families.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a timely reminder that well-being is just as important as academic success. Let's continue supporting one another, encouraging open conversations, and prioritizing mental health both in and out of school.
The seniors helped me complete the ice bucket challenge in honor of Mental Health Awareness month.
Wishing everyone a restful, safe summer ahead.

Lodi USD Nutrition Services is proud to offer free meals to all children ages 2–18 this summer at multiple locations across the district. The Summer Meals Program will run during June and July, providing nutritious breakfasts and lunches to help keep kids healthy and fueled all summer long.
Please help spread the word to families in your school community.
You can find a full list of participating meal sites linked below:
SUN Bucks (Summer EBT) (K-12)
Permanent program that helps families with school-age children buy groceries
SUN Bucks is a permanent program that helps families with school-age children buy groceries during the summer months when kids might not have access to school meals. A federal law, called the Consolidated Appropriations Act passed in December 2022, created Summer EBT across the country. California passed a law in July 2023 to join the program. The California Department of Social Services is the lead agency implementing the program, in partnership with the California Department of Education.
In 2024, families utilized over 4.3 million SUN Bucks cards, totaling over $499 million in food purchased.
SUN Bucks are loaded onto an EBT card. Each eligible child in your family will get one card with $120 to buy groceries – that’s $40 per month for June, July, and August. SUN Bucks can be used to buy food at most grocery stores, farmer's markets, and other authorized retailers, including online at stores like Amazon and Walmart.
SUN Bucks cannot be used for: hot foods, pet foods, cleaning or household supplies, personal hygiene items, or medicine.
You can use SUN Bucks and still get other food assistance programs such as summer meals, CalFresh, and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
Click on the link below for more information:

If you have a concern with a decision made for your SUN Bucks benefits, you can ask for a review through the SUN Bucks Helpline. To submit a benefit dispute, call the SUN Bucks Helpline at (877) 328-9677.

No Free Option?
It has come to our attention that Prestige did not list a free option; however, they do still offer one. Here’s what they recommend:
Families can schedule a mini session without making a payment. When checking in, they should inform the CSR that they are there for the "yearbook-only" option. Once the photo is taken, they are free to leave.
Once you are at the section pictured below your appointment is set and you are free to exit the scheduling assistant. The appointment will still be considered complete.
Summer Work Permits
Due to limited staffing during the summer, each high school will be open to the public for one designated week to issue work permits for the entire district.
If you know you will need a work permit, please stop by the Assistant Principal’s office before summer break begins.
If you need a work permit during the summer, refer to the calendar below to see which site will be issuing permits during each week.
First Year Experience (FYE) Seminar Course
Course to help incoming freshmen transition into college. Our FYE will be taught by one of our counselors, Daniel Fernandez. Students will be able to gain valuable skills, network and build the strong foundation to succeed in their college journey!
The class is hybrid. Students will meet Mon-Thurs from 10am-11:20am and 2.75 hours online. Most of the time the online portion will consist on student discussion/homework.
State Test Scores (K-12)
Dear Lodi USD Families,
Students in grades 3-8 and 11th grade participated in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) assessments this school year.
During this year, your child took the following test(s), depending on your child’s grade level:
- Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments OR California Alternate Assessments for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics in grades 3-8 and 11th grade
- California Science Test (CAST) OR California Alternate Assessments in grades 5th, 8th, 11th and 12th grades
English Learner students in grades K-12th participated in the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC) assessments:
- Summative ELPAC
- Alternate ELPAC
Lodi USD is beginning to receive Student Score Reports, which can be accessed electronically through the Aeries Parent Portal. Some tests are still being scored and may arrive later. Please check periodically if you do not see your child's results. All parents/guardians who submitted an email address to the school upon enrollment, or at any time thereafter, have an account.
- From lodiusd.net, or your school’s website, select Portals at the top of the page, then select the Aeries Parent Portal. After logging into your account, hover over the Test Scores menu title, then select State Test Scores Reports.
- If you have not utilized your account and require a password reset, click Forgot Password? on the Aeries sign-in screen.
- If you are not sure if you have an Aeries Parent Portal Account, or need to share a new email address and obtain an account, please contact your child’s school.
- If you do not have an email address or access to the appropriate technology, you may request a paper copy of the results from your child’s school.
To learn more about your child’s scores, go to the parent/guardian web page called Starting Smarter. There, you will find:
- Resources to help understand test results on the Student Score Reports
- Access to sample test questions and practice tests
- No-cost resources to support your child’s learning
- A guide to prepare for parent-teacher conferences
Test results are just one way to look at how well our students are doing. Lodi USD uses the results to find areas in which students are doing well and areas in which they need help. It is also important to know that the test results are not used to determine whether a student moves to the next grade.
If you have questions or concerns, please call the school office. To learn more about state assessments, please visit our website.
Lodi Unified School District Families:
This important update is being shared regarding smartphone use during school in 2025-2026.
Beginning next school year, students will be required to keep their smartphones turned off and stored in their backpacks during the regular school day. This practice, already in place at many of our elementary and middle schools, aligns with Lodi Unified School District’s Board Policy 5131: Student Conduct.
This Board of Education approved change is designed to reduce distractions, support student mental health, minimize instances of cyberbullying and support student academic discourse throughout the school day. Research strongly supports limiting phone use during the school day, and similar policies are being adopted in schools across the state. In fact, California’s Assembly Bill 3216 will require school districts to adopt such policies by July 1, 2026. Please note that exceptions will be made for students with medical needs or accommodations outlined in their IEPs.
We understand that this may change how you communicate with your child during the day, even though they will be able to retrieve messages or return calls at the end of the regular school day. Our school offices are always available to relay important messages, and students can use office phones if needed. In the event of an emergency, it's essential that students stay focused on staff instructions. First responders recommend limiting phone use to ensure safety and clear communication.
We’ll share more information as the school year approaches, but we appreciate your support in preparing your student for this shift. Please take a moment to discuss these expectations with your child.
Thank you for partnering with us to create a safe and focused learning environment
ID Cards
Everyone must have their ID card when on campus
Campus safety and security is our priority. Admin and Campus Security check that all students have their physical ID card in order to enter campus. If a student doesn't have their ID card upon entering campus, we will print them a new one and charge their student account $5 for the replacement. Students who have forgotten their ID card more than twice will be placed on contract.

Assessment, Research, and Evaluation (ARE) Department
Dear Lodi USD Parent/Guardians,
Every year, California students take several statewide tests. When combined with other measures such as grades, class work, and teacher observations, these tests give families and teachers a more complete picture of their child’s learning. You can use the results to identify where your child is doing well and where they might need more support. Your child may be taking one or more of the following:
- California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
- English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC)
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
To see the full information on the above assessments, please visit our Assessment, Research, and Evaluation (ARE) Department website. Please select the Annual Notification of Testing, 2024-2025 link.

Have you ever lost it for no apparent reason? Do you ever feel overwhelmed and completely shut down? That's your stress response system going off too often.
Built-up emotions like anxiety, anger, and sadness are all connected to your stress response. These emotions and unhelpful thought patterns can build up until you hit a breaking point.
Learning to pause when things start to feel overwhelming can help you feel in control of your emotions.
