In addition to the 8th grade clap-out and ceremony, we hope they will be able to attend the annual end-of-the-year party on the last day of school, Wednesday, June 10th from 2:30p.m. to 4:30p.m. at Oakland Yard Athletics in Waterford. The party will be outdoors and our group will have the entire facility to ourselves.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL DISMISSAL AND CLAP OUT INFORMATION LAST DAY OF SCHOOL DISMISSAL AND CLAP OUT INFORMATION

As part of dismissal on the last day of school, the 8th grade class gets "clapped out" of the building by 6th grade students, 7th grade students and staff.

All family members are welcome to wait outside the main entrance to see the 8th graders leave CHS one last time and for safety and security purposes are not permitted inside the building.

We will have a "parent viewing area" right outside the main entrance, where the 8th grade will be exiting the building.

6th and 7th grade students will be exiting out of the media center entrance to help improve the flow of students leaving the building.

Once the 8th graders have emptied out of the building, parents may join them briefly in the "student dismissal area" as we load buses for dismissal.

We will begin our dismissal/ clap out process around 11:30 a.m.

Walled Lake Northern High School SWAT Information & Permission Slip Walled Lake Northern High School SWAT Information & Permission Slip

Welcome to Walled Lake Northern High School! We know what an exciting time this is for you and your child with the anticipation of becoming a KNIGHT! Walled Lake Northern’s Student Council would like to formally welcome your child and introduce them to the school at a special “Knighting” event.

This is an invitation to our Freshmen Orientation on Thursday, August 20th, 2026, which we refer to as SWAT, or Students Who Are There. This event will run from 9:30 to 1:00 and is designed to help your Freshman feel more comfortable as they begin their journey at Walled Lake Northern High School.

Students who are current Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who are involved in the Student Council will help as SWAT mentors to our incoming Freshman students. Two mentors will be assigned to a group of 8-10 Freshmen and they will have an agenda to follow for the day. Agenda items include addressing school policies and the Code of Conduct, getting acquainted with the building layout and the location of their classrooms, participation in clubs and activities, academic resources, Homecoming Spirit Week activities, Class Council elections, and many other important pieces of information, including information on the dangers of vaping.

Parents are asked to return to Northern and meet in the Auditorium toward the end of SWAT—exact times will be provided prior to the event, and WLN Principal Mr. Greg Diamond will offer a closing statement.

In order to register for SWAT 2026, you may do one of the following:

1) Sign up in person at the Student Council booth at 8th grade graduation. You must include a registration form AND payment to register.

2) Sign up in person at the Student Council booth at 2026/2027 registration. You must include a registration form AND payment to register.

The payment of $5 (non-refundable) will cover a pizza lunch with salad, a bottle of water, and dessert. We can accept $5 (non-refundable) cash or a check made out to Walled Lake Schools.

We look forward to your child’s participation! Please feel free to email me with any questions.

Go Knights!
