Message from Ms. Lahey Message from Ms. Lahey

Greetings Hembree Families,

We had a wonderful Week 2 of school! It’s been exciting to see students settling into their routines, building friendships, and engaging in meaningful learning experiences. Thank you for your continued support as we kick off a great school year together.

August is a busy month as we begin collecting beginning-of-the-year diagnostic data to help guide instruction and support student growth. One important upcoming assessment is our Math i-Ready, which will take place on Tuesday, August 19th. Please help your child get a good night’s sleep and arrive on time, ready to do their best.

Here are a few highlights from this week:

  • Classroom Routines: Students are becoming more confident and independent in their daily schedules.
  • Community Building: Teachers are fostering a sense of belonging through team-building and social-emotional learning activities.
  • Curriculum Launch: Core subjects are underway, and students are already showing great curiosity and effort.

We’re looking forward to a strong start and appreciate your partnership in making this year successful. If you have any questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Have a wonderful weekend and I hope to see many of you at the picnic tonight from 5:30-7:30 PM.

Warm regards,
Nancy Lahey
Principal

iReady For Families Diagnostic Reports iReady For Families Diagnostic Reports

The i-Ready For Families Report continues to be available in the i-Ready portal. This report allows us to share students’ Diagnostic results digitally by providing access to the For Families report directly on students’ i-Ready dashboard.

Families will have digital access to the For Families report after logging in to their student’s i-Ready dashboard and entering our year-long district report code: W7QZLR on the top right-hand corner of the For Families tab. This code is applicable to all students throughout the district and is offered to families so they can directly access student results.

Chris 180 Counseling Resource Chris 180 Counseling Resource

Chris 180’s school-based mental health counseling services place licensed therapists directly in the school to provide ongoing, therapeutic support for students. While a school counselor employed by the school focuses on academic planning, career readiness, and short-term social or emotional concerns, a school-based therapist offers more in-depth, clinical counseling to address mental health needs such as anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral challenges, and difficulties with emotional regulation.

Because our therapists are embedded in the school, they can work closely with teachers, staff, and families to create a coordinated support system, while still providing the confidentiality and consistent sessions needed for meaningful progress. Having a Chris 180 therapist on-site allows students to access professional mental health care without leaving school, reducing barriers like transportation and scheduling conflicts. This consistent, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach helps students develop coping skills, build confidence, improve social relationships, and support their overall emotional well-being—benefits that often extend into improved academic performance and daily life.

Please reach out to Hembree's School Counselor, Shannon Reynolds, if you are interested in possibly referring your student for ongoing, school-based mental health services through Chris 180.

We would love your SUPPORT! We are looking for adult male role models to volunteer as a Dad’s Club Mentor, serving as a group mentor to our Hawks boys in grades 3rd-5th.

The mentors will meet as a group with the boys every Friday before school from 7:10-7:40 am. It’s okay if you’re not available every Friday. Any time that you have is greatly appreciated!

If interested or if you have additional questions, please reach out to Shannon Reynolds (School Counselor) at 470-254-9456 or reynoldssn@fultonschools.org.

PTA memberships for the 2025-26 school year are NOW OPEN! Click the link below to join for just $10. Help us reach our goal of 250 members!

You can also sign up your spouse/partner or another family member, too. Below is a graphic that shows all the amazing things we accomplished last school year with your help!

Why Join PTA?

Whether you're a parent, a grandparent, a guardian, a teacher or school staff — your voice matters. The Parent-Teacher Association isn't just a fundraising group. It's a powerful network that connects families and educators to support students in real, meaningful ways.

Here’s why you should join:

  • Stay Informed: Want to know what’s really going on in school? PTA members get inside access to upcoming events, school policies, and issues that matter most.

  • Have a Voice: Joining the PTA means you have a seat at the table when decisions are being discussed that affect your child’s education and experience.

  • Make a Difference: Whether you can give 1 hour or 10, your involvement — big or small — helps create a better school environment for every child. We want to emphasize, joining PTA doesn't mean you have to volunteer! It is just a great way to support your school and foster a sense of community with membership.

PTA Will Buy Your School Supplies PTA Will Buy Your School Supplies

Parents, say goodbye to back-to-school chaos and hello to summer peace!
For just $65 per student, you can:

✅ Skip the stressful school supply scavenger hunt
✅ Get exactly what your child’s teacher requested
✅ Avoid crowded aisles, tantrums, and barcode confusion
✅ Support your school — it’s a PTA fundraiser!

Instead of ordering from third-party supply kit companies, our PTA is taking care of everything. We’ll stock the teacher workroom with supplies from each grade’s list and continue replenishing throughout the year. Since supplies are shared in classrooms, this approach makes even more sense!

This is our second year running this program, and thanks to your support, last year was a huge success — so we’re bringing it back!

🎒 Ready to simplify your summer?
Make your $65 donation per student here:

Please note that this includes all grade level teachers’ lists, but not Specials teachers’ lists.

Calling All Parents! Calling All Parents!

Update: We are still looking for volunteers to step in as Room Parents for the following teachers: Ms. Chenhill (Pre-K), Ms. Garvin (K), Ms. Reeves (K), Ms. Roland (1), Ms. Petty (2), and Ms. Bowie (3).

We are looking for volunteers to step in as Room Parents! I know what you’re thinking - what does a Room Parent even do?

  • Check-in with their teacher monthly to see if they have any volunteer or supplies needs.
  • Send pre-written emails to your class 1-2 times a month.
  • Help plan your teacher’s birthday celebration and organize the winter and end of year parties!

Now you’re asking, “What’s in it for me?” Not only does this coveted title get you priority to come help in the classroom and chaperone field trips, but you get the benefit of meeting all your kid’s friends and helping our AMAZING teachers! Interested in joining the fun? Scan the QR code or click the link here!

Join the Copy Team – A Meaningful Way to Support Our Teachers! Join the Copy Team – A Meaningful Way to Support Our Teachers!

Looking for an easy and rewarding way to help out at school? The Copy Team needs you! Volunteers make classroom copies for our teachers—saving them valuable time and making a real difference each week.

Here’s how it works:

· You’ll be assigned one day a week to stop by the school anytime during school hours.

· You’ll complete the copy requests left for that day—independent work that fits into your schedule.

· A short training will be provided to get you comfortable with the copiers and process.

As a bonus, many of our volunteers enjoy chatting with teachers and staff while in the copy room—it’s a great way to feel connected and get to know the heart of our school community. This is a school year long commitment, and your efforts are truly appreciated by all the staff.

Interested? Contact Julie Burnley at jkburnley@gmail.com to sign up or get more information.

Have you heard your child mention anything about an app called Beanstack? It was introduced in the Media Center. Beanstack is a digital reading log that students can use to log the number of minutes they are reading. They can earn badges and rewards along the way. If your child is reading at school, home, daycare, etc. they can log their minutes and help us get closer to our goal. The following is a video explaining how to use Beanstack from home. You can always find your child's lunch number/student number in infinite campus or email Mrs. Soberanis: soberanis@fultonschools.org. Happy Reading!
