It is spring!

Let's hope that April showers bring May flowers! Spring is a great time for students to double check their credit situation and make sure all is in line for graduation. Those planning to attend post-secondary in the fall can start finalizing residence, consider parking options, and line up funding information. A verified Alberta.ca account is a great next step as this type of account sets you up to apply for student loans in June and Rutherford Scholarship in August.
Gr 9 Orientation to High School🔗
Learn all about the season of new beginnings. Orientation to High School for current grade 9 students and families.🌷 Presentations will be happening from April to June for all grade 9 students in the division.
TRADES! TRADES! TRADES!
There are so many trades that students can explore and create a sustainable career from. Starting in high school with the RAP program is an advantage, but if you can't find a placement, consider pre-employment or taking diploma programs.

Here are the MINIMUM requirements for the trades. Note Science 10 is a minimum requirement for many trades. Click the picture above.

Challenge Yourself!

There is a misconception that the trades are 'easy' school. Ask most journeypersons, and the training periods are intense and require significant work and study time after a full day of classes. Taking more difficult courses in high school that you can have success in, for example high school science classes, will develop your thinking and studying skills.

Develop good habits!

There is zero tolerance in trades school for phone use, absentism and chronic tardiness. Develop more responsible habits in high school so it's not such a shock when those expectations are part of your training and you are paying to attend your training periods.
