GLOBE’s Inaugural Junior Assembly Team Earns Top Honors
The GLOBE Academy made an outstanding debut at the 46th annual Georgia Junior Youth Assembly, held on October 25–27.
In its first year participating in the competition, GLOBE’s inaugural Junior Assembly Team achieved a remarkable 100% bill acceptance rate, with all five students having their bills selected for debate. Of the 167 bills submitted statewide, only 30 were selected for debate (overall acceptance rate of less than 18%), making GLOBE’s achievement especially impressive.
All five student delegates—seventh graders Nora Bunyan and Owen Wainford, and eighth graders Keira Gordon, Maddie Parrott, and Lucas Teixeira-Staples—advanced their original bills through small committee, initial chamber, and final chamber proceedings over three days of debate and deliberation.
The team’s exceptional performance earned four individual awards and one prestigious team award. Lucas Teixeira-Staples received the Best Policy Platform Award, Owen Wainford earned the Overall Best Bill Award, and Keira Gordon and Lucas Teixeira-Staples each received a McCutchen Award, recognizing the two outstanding delegates in each chamber. To top it all off, GLOBE earned the Outstanding Delegation Award, recognizing the best school in the competition!
Congratulations to the five outstanding students and their advisor, Mr. Johnson, on an extraordinary first year at Junior Assembly. Their hard work, thoughtful policy proposals, and dedication to civic engagement have made the entire GLOBE community proud.
A special thank you to PTCC for its enthusiastic support of the Junior Assembly Team and for helping make this first year a memorable one.

Global Seal of Biliteracy Opportunity for 8th graders
Does your 8th grade student speak a language at home in addition to their GLOBE language?
Eighth grade students may have the opportunity to take an additional Avant STAMP proficiency assessment in an eligible language and potentially earn the Global Seal of Biliteracy, an international credential recognizing proficiency in English and another language. Eighth grade students who qualify for the seal will also be recognized at our GLOBE graduation ceremony.
If your student has intermediate-mid to advanced proficiency in another language and is interested in participating, please send an mail to Ms. Daniel, Director of Language Program, by November 6, 2026, with the name of the language they would like to test in and preferred date.
The assessment requires students to understand and communicate effectively across a range of contexts, including academic and formal settings. Students should review the sample test and proficiency examples with their families to determine whether the assessment is a good fit for their current language proficiency.
Testing will take place at Upper Campus on January 14 or February 9, 2027, from 10:00am to 12:30pm. Students will attend their regular classes before and after testing. Click here for information.
