Wildwood Elementary
May 15, 2020
Dear Wildwood Families,
As we continue with our Remote Learning Plan, we are very proud of the resilience of our scholars and staff, and the fortitude with which our school community has engaged in teaching and learning during this time.
As a school, our student participation in reading and math lessons on i-Ready this week was about 65%; way to go Wildcats! Our lesson participation is remaining the same from week to week, however, and we want to see most (if not all) students participating. Both of the i-Ready programs have lessons that are assigned to your scholar by their teacher as well as something called "My Path". The "My Path" are lessons tailored directly to your child based on their last diagnostic assessment. These lessons will help build their reading and math skills as they prepare for the next grade level while also ensuring they feel successful (instead of stressed).
As I look at the participation rates from Wildwood scholars last week, I noticed that many of our Kindergarten and 2nd grade scholars are not participating. I want to emphasize that every grade level is important. Students that are engaging in their on-line lessons this spring will be ahead of those students that do not engage. If your student has not been engaging in lessons, please reach out and let us know how we can support you. By working together, our scholars will reach and achieve their full potential.
Partnering with parents and having the opportunity to talk about your child's education is so important. We will continue hosting our weekly "Coffee with the Principals" this coming Monday. Ms. Gines will host a Spanish-speaking one from 3:00-3:30 and I will host an English-speaking one from 3:30-4:00. Zoom links will be sent out on Monday morning. We look forward to visiting with you.
If I can help in anyway or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
In partnership,
Sarah Jackson
