Principal's Message

Dear Golden Hills Families,

At Golden Hills, we value strong partnerships with our families. Family engagement means the things families do at home and in the community to support their children’s learning. Research shows that when families are actively involved, students do better—and we would love to continue building that partnership with you!

Parent Involvement Opportunities

Join the Golden Hills Parent Teacher Group (PTG)!

PTG meets only 4–6 times a year to plan fun activities for students and staff. Our first project will be organizing a Color Run—a fun and exciting event! Please join us to help with the planning.
📅 First Meeting: September 11, 3:00–4:00 pm

School Site Council (SSC)

The SSC includes parents, teachers, the principal, and other school staff. Together, we set goals and create plans to support student success. This is also a great time to ask questions and learn more about Golden Hills.

📅 First Meeting: September 11, 3:00–4:00 pm

💡 We combine PTG and SSC into one meeting for your convenience!

Student Leadership

Our Student Advisory Club is already hard at work! They are interviewing classmates to learn what students love about Golden Hills and what ideas they have for the future. These students will share their findings at the September 11th meeting.

It’s not too late for students to join—encourage your child to get involved!

Attendance Matters

Our goal is 95% or higher daily attendance—and right now we’re at 94.83%! 🎉we are so close to making our goal! Please let us know if your child needs support with attendance. Remember, Independent Study is available if your student needs to miss school (even for one day) —ask the office for details.

📚 Golden Hills Fundraiser: Reading For Education

We’re excited to kick off our Reading For Education fundraiser, which runs all year long and starts today, September 2nd!

Families and friends can support Golden Hills simply by shopping online at ReadingForEducation.com. Information packets are being sent home with students today.

💡 Did you know?
Last year, this fundraiser helped us pay for state testing snacks and even brought in a BMX bike rider assembly on the last day of school!

Thank you for supporting our students through this fun and easy program!

TEAM Expectations

Students are learning our Golden Hills TEAM expectations:

  • Take Responsibility

  • Earn Respect

  • Act Safely

  • Make a Difference

Families, please help reinforce these at home—especially by reminding students to keep hands to themselves and use kind, school-appropriate words.

If your student shares a concern with you, you can report it directly through our website: Golden Hills Report Link. Reports go straight to me, and I will follow up with you.

Please feel free to reach out anytime with questions or concerns.

Together, we make Golden Hills a great place to learn and grow!

With appreciation,

Kristi Napoli

Counselor’s Message

Our school uses RULER as our social emotional learning curriculum.

RULER stands for:

R: Recognizing emotions in self and others

U: Understanding the causes and effects of emotions

L: Labeling emotions with the just right word

E: Expressing emotions with our bodies and words

R: Regulating our emotions to reach our goals

In August we learned about why we have emotions. What is happening in our brain when we have emotions. We also learned about what happens (thinking, physiology, expression, and behavior) when we have different feelings. We asked our students to think about how they are feeling and what is happening when they have those feelings.

Our Wellness Coach and I met with all of the students who are new to our district. All of the new students got to meet all of the other new students in their grade level and got to know each other a little better. We answered any of their questions regarding our school. This is a good opportunity to help all of our new students get connected.

I’ll be on campus Tuesday through Friday this school year. If you have any questions or need any support please feel free to contact me at (530)532-6000 ext 4601 email rwalker@palermok8.org

Sincerely,

Rainbow Walker

School Counselor

Golden Hills Homework:

Students should read and practice math facts nightly. Any work not completed in class is also considered homework. We do have monthly optional homework packets available in the office if you would like to work with your student at home. These are directly related to content being taught in the classrooms.

Attendance Matters:

Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school—and themselves. Students can still fall behind if they miss just 1 or 2 days every few weeks.

If students are going to be absent they can do independent study.

Lego Party for the class with the highest percentage for attendance for the month of September on September 26th!

Trimester 1: LASER show called Lasermania! Students who attend 90% or more school days from August to November 4th (absent less than 6 days, excused or unexcused) will be invited! The Laser Show is on November 6th!

Ironman awards will be handed out to classes with the best overall attendance.
