LISD Legislative Update

Dear Legislators,

I want to make you aware that LISD has joined nine other districts in sending a letter to Commissioner Morath as we all are projected to experience a net funding reduction in FY 27. This letter officially requests Commissioner Morath to utilize his authority to correct for these unintended consequences of House Bill 2 (HB 2). I have included our letter to Commissioner Morath below and attached for your reference.

LISD is projected to lose $2,407,122 in 2027 after we distribute the required teacher compensation increases and pay our required salary-related contributions. You can review a full analysis of the projected financial impact of HB 2 attached.

Your advocacy with the Commissioner regarding this concern would be greatly appreciated.
