New Mexico College Access Council College Fair:

Our junior and senior students will participate in the 7th annual NMCAC College fair this October 20th. Colleges, universities and technical schools all work together to host an informative fair for potential/future students. This group of admissions representatives makes it to each of the comprehensive high schools in one fabulous day of college exploration. Students can apply on the spot in this invaluable experience.

CTSO Fall Leadership Rally:

This conference, held on October 19th, is a statewide professional and leadership development open to the following organizations: BPA, DECA, Ed Rising, FCCLA, HOSA, SkillsUSA, and TSA. The conference is an opportunity for you to join with your fellow CTSO members from around the State of New Mexico to improve to network, improve leadership skills, participate in hands on learning activities, sharpen your competitive knowledge.

Build My Future:

Las Cruces Public Schools has partnered with business and industry around southern New Mexico, and is hosting a career exploration event for Middle and High School students. GISD will take thirty students from each of the secondary campuses to take part in this wonderful opportunity. They will get the chance to explore careers common to our community and develop contacts with networking experiences.

Mid October, the NM PED CTE Department will be visiting GISD to view our programs. They will look at the following elements in select programs:

• Guided tour of CTE facilities and classrooms.
• Highlight presentation by your and your team to show off CTE successes.
• Strategic planning and technical assistance session, with particular attention on the recent CLNA process
• Opportunity to speak with instructors and administrators.
• Data and fiscal conversations with GISD team members who may have questions or would be interested in having a sit down to discuss particular questions.
