Academy Avenue Elementary School

Dear Academy Families and Friends,

It's been another great week at Academy. Picture Day ran smoothly and I believe we had the highest turnout in recent years at our AAPC Boo Monster Mash Bash in years. As we continue to go deeper and deeper into the fall months, it's going to get colder. Please remember to dress your kids for the weather and plenty of outdoor activities.

While we are on a roll, it's always important to share a few reminders about walking safely to school. Over the past two years, we have worked with the Safe Routes to School program and seen amazing events like the "Walking School Bus" and "Crosswalk Safety Programs" come to Academy. One area still needs a reminder. Using the sidewalks and avoiding cutting through the Adams School building site. We have seen an increase in students walking to school and want to remind families crossing Middle Street to walk down past town Hall (where there is a crossing guard) and crossing at the intersection of Academy and Middle. This will also be helpful as the renovations and transportation/maintenance happening in the back lot of Adams can be difficult for young students to traverse. Safety first...from when we leave the house in the morning to when we get home at the end of each day.

Lastly, this week we will be emailing a gForm to get the preferences for families for conferences. The fall conferences are only a few weeks away.

Let's have a great week,

Mr. Higgins
