Middleton Update

THANK YOU to everyone who joined us last night at our first annual Around the World at Middleton event. The entire evening was better than any of us ever could have imagined. THANK YOU to the families who hosted tables, designed crafts and activities, prepared food, performed on stage, and taught us about their culture. I'm not sure I've ever been so proud of our Middleton community. We already can't wait for next year!

Additionally, THANK YOU to the 66 parents who have filled out our survey. If you haven't done so already, please take 10-15 minutes to complete this survey. This gives our school and district valuable information to set goals and make improvements and we value your input. Last year we had 83 responses. My goal for this year is 100. (We have just over 300 families, so this is attainable!) The survey closes April 21st (next Monday). THANK YOU for your feedback. (You will find more details below.)

It's hard to believe we've reached the point in the school year when we start thinking about next year, but if I've counted correctly, we only have 34.5 days left! Our staff will soon begin preparing classes for next year. This is a process we take very seriously and teams work hard to create balanced classes across each grade level. We look at all of the needs of our students including social/emotional, academic and behavior needs. Students are not placed directly with a teacher, but rather into a group of students. Teachers are assigned to classlists after balanced classes are prepared. As part of our process, we take into account parent input. If you have anything to share with us regarding the needs of your child as a learner, you can do so HERE.

On Wednesday during lunch, the "von Trapp family" visited Middleton to sing two songs from the upcoming Sherwood High School production ofThe Sound of Music. They will be performing for the next two weekends. See below for ticket information!

This year we will have an online pre-sale for our carnival! Click the link below or scan the QR code for the google form. Please fill out this google form with all of the required information. When sending your venmo payment, please make sure the memo reads "carnival pre-sale with your child's name" so it is easy to distinguish between raffle basket money. Turn in cash and check to the front office, but please make sure the name you filled out the google form with is on the envelope so we can cross check. Online pre-sale will end May 5th. We will have a physical presale after school and activity cards, raffle tickets, and food tickets can still be purchased at the door when entering the carnival. All tickets and cards must be purchased at the door this year. There will be no money accepted at food tables inside the school building except for at the food trucks. Avoid the long lines and get all your tickets now! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to our PAC at board@middletonpac.org.

Middleton Carnival Pre-Sale

We will raffle off baskets created by each class at the carnival again this year on May 16th! We are asking for 2 things:

1. A parent volunteer from each class to put together the basket! Baskets need to be completed by May 9th. Our PAC and Pinterest have many amazing ideas if you need guidance. Please email board@middletonpac.org if you are interested!

2. Donations to complete the baskets! All money goes directly towards your child's class basket. FIVE raffle tickets will go to anyone who contributes. Cash and check can be turned into the front office or you can use the QR code to Venmo. Venmo memo needs to read - RAFFLE BASKETS with your child's full name, teacher name, and grade level. Any amount is SO greatly appreciated! Our venmo username is @MiddletonElementaryPAC

As part of our commitment to providing an excellent education for your children, Sherwood School District is conducting a survey in partnership with Studer Education. Your feedback will help us determine what is working well and any areas that may need improvement.

The survey takes 10-15 minutes to complete. We encourage you to complete it in one sitting, as your responses will be saved once you click submit. The survey will ask you to select your child’s school, and you can complete a separate survey for each of the schools your children attend.

The Parent/Caregiver Experience Survey can be accessed HERE between April 1st and 21st.

To maintain confidentiality of the Parent/Caregiver Experience Survey, our partners at Studer Education will be administering the survey, managing the data collection, and aggregating the data to provide results reports to leaders. Thank you for your commitment to our success!

Our spring book fair is just around the corner! See the schedule below:

• Monday, May 5th - Wednesday, May 7th (8:00am-3:00pm)
• Classes will visit the Book Fair at a scheduled time during the school day
• Students can purchase books and/or browse throughout the Fair and fill out a Wish List.

• Thursday, May 8th (8:00am - 7:30pm) during Spring Conferences
• Friday, May 9th (8:00am - 10:30am) morning only during Spring Conferences

Middleton will hold its annual All-School Chess Tournament on Thursday, April 24th. The tournament will take place at the school, during the school day. Each student will play five games. More details will follow as we get closer to the date.

Important: students are expected to know the rules of chess and be able to play a full game independently. They should also be ready to complete all five games.

Submit this form by April 18th if your child would like to participate. If you decide later that they'll not play, please let us know so we can adjust the match-ups. Questions? Email chessclub@middletonpac.org
