And We're Off...

In the next few weeks it is off to the races so to speak as we will see schools transition back into session. Some will have students in their buildings, some will have virtual students only, and some will be a mixture of both. While we don't know how everything will play out, we do know that our students deserve our best. Region 10 students are truly lucky because they have been gifted the best by having each of you. For the first time I will have a child of my own entering school...pre-K. As we were buying his school supplies, I watched him pick out his little backpack, his dinosaur notebooks, folders, etc. I saw his excitement that he actually got his own scissors. For a four year old, that is a big deal apparently. It got me thinking about all of the students preparing to come back. Students across the state run the whole spectrum from excitement to dread. Soon, they will engage with teachers and peers, and they will begin to fill their mental and emotional backpacks. They look to you for guidance, for knowledge, and for hope. I have been asked a multitude of times why I chose to enter education. The answer I have is that if I want a strong education system, opportunity, and greatness for students and teachers then I have to do my part to create it. So, let me do my part. We are here to help you where we can. Reach out, ask a question, vent, collaborate, whatever it is that you need. We are a phone call, an email, a short drive, and a mask away. Let us know what we can do to serve you so that you can do the work you were meant to do!

RDA Proposal and Changes

Due to changes in monitoring structures and requirements for certain federal and state
programs, and to eliminate duplication of monitoring activities, some program areas have
been removed from the RDA report. Those include Career and Technical Education
(CTE) indicators, Title I -Part A, and Migrant. These programs continue to be monitored
through Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) reporting and requirements.
