Congratulations!

Geer, now in her fourth year with Sunnyvale ISD and eighth year in education overall, steps into the role after serving as a SMS GT teacher, eighth grade science teacher and science department head. Her new responsibilities will focus on supporting teachers at the secondary level.

“I have always felt the most fulfilled when I am able to serve others,” Geer said. “I naturally gravitate toward opportunities where I can be helpful, and stepping into the secondary instructional coordinator role felt like the next meaningful way to serve my students and colleagues.”

Geer said her classroom experience has given her insight into the needs of both students and teachers and has prepared her for this next step.

“I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with both middle and high school teachers, which has helped me build strong relationships across campuses and allowed me to truly understand the instructional needs at both levels,” she said.

In 2023, Geer was named SMS Teacher of the Year, a recognition she describes as an honor and a key milestone in her career. Looking ahead, Geer said she is eager to support teachers behind the scenes, whether it’s aligning curriculum, analyzing data, planning interventions, or simply being a sounding board.

“I love being part of the behind-the-scenes work that helps great instruction happen,” she said.

Geer describes her leadership approach as relationship-driven and focused on empowering educators.

“I believe that the most effective leadership happens when you listen first, support consistently, and genuinely care about the people you serve,” she said.
