Celebrate the New Edison Elementary School Building on October 25

We can’t thank you enough, but we can thank you again! Please join us to celebrate the grand opening of the new Edison Elementary School building on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 5:30–7 p.m.

This fall students launched into the new school year in their modern, light-filled and new building. Now it’s time to open the doors and showcase the new school building to the whole community, including the bond voters who made it possible.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will start at 5:30 p.m. with brief remarks from school leaders and local officials, plus a student performance. Community members can drop in to take an architect-led or self-guided tour of the school and explore its innovative indoor and outdoor learning spaces.

We can't wait to see you there!

Student Reps Sought to Serve on 4J School Board

The 4J school board believes that hearing from students is a critical component to quality decision-making as they lead and set the direction for the school district. To gain that perspective, the board is seeking student representatives to serve on the school board.

All 4J high school students are eligible to apply.

The school board meets regularly (normally twice a month on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.), and student representatives will be asked to attend each meeting to ensure student voice is included in each meeting. 2022–23 4J school board meeting schedule: 4j.lane.edu/board/meetings/#meetings

Watch New Schools Rise—From the Air

Neighbors of the Camas Ridge Elementary School and North Eugene High School construction sites have been getting an up-close look at the building of the schools. Now the public can get a closer glimpse of the construction from a different angle. Aerial cameras installed at the construction sites show progress with time-lapse photos that refresh every 12 minutes.

Support Available: Mental Health Care Coordination Service Available to All 4J Families

It's OK to ask for help. Eugene School District 4J is committed to the well-being of our students, staff and families. To help provide an additional layer of care, and address the need for mental health care and substance abuse treatment, the district began providing students, staff and their families access to Care Solace in March 2022 on a trial basis. The service was in demand, so the district extended free access through the 2022–23 school year.

Care Solace is a confidential care coordination service that families can access online at caresolace.com/eugene, or by phone at 888-515-0595 in any language and at any time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

⭐🍎 Meet Kirsten 🍎⭐

Educational Assistant at Edison Elementary School

"My hope each day is to make a difference. May it be helping a student tie their shoe to be safe on the playground or helping our students learn to write their name and learn to read. Small pieces lead to big change. And I love being part of an amazing team of educators and staff that truly care about our students in so many ways!"
