Week of Nov 18
MISSION
Lindblom Math & Science Academy is an inclusive, challenging, and supportive community that empowers students to become compassionate leaders who understand, engage, and impact the world.
VISION
Lindblom Math & Science Academy will empower every student to excel academically, grow personally, and thrive as engaged citizens in an ever-changing world.
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Dear Eagles and Families,
Gratitude is that thing that you see on others when they are smiling in their own element. It's that thing that makes you appreciate the smallest of things. Gratitude is a strong feeling of appreciation to someone or something. WE appreciate your support of our leadership and guidance of your children each and everyday they enter the walls and halls of Lindblom Math and Science Academy. We met with many of you during Parent-Teacher Conferences, volunteering at school events, cheering on students at various sports activities, and viewing our fall plays and concerts. WE are grateful that you are on this journey with us. Our collaboration is required to nurture student growth.
Parents, our students are into the last quarter of this semester and it's a great time to refocus them. Remind your student to focus on the ways they can continue to grow and shine academically, socially and emotionally as opposed to focusing on areas of weakness. Ensure that your student is seeking academic support now, seeing that we are only 4 weeks away from Final Exams.
Sincerely,
Lindblom Administration

Starting second semester, students with an unweighted GPA of 3.0 after 7 semesters can qualify for college-ready coursework without having to take a placement exam or have the requisite SAT score. Please consider if you have students who can take advantage of this increased opportunity to participate in early college coursework and if this new qualifier would make additional spring dual credit coursework more feasible.

BE EMPOWERED
Illinois Life Goes On Presentation
There will be an upcoming "Illinois Life Goes On" presentation for 10th-grade students on 11/20 during advisory. The Secretary of State's Organ/Tissue Donor program has made it a priority to educate the public about organ/tissue donation. While our state continues to be the leader in registering potential donors, there are still 4,000 people on the waiting list, and 300 people die each year because of organ shortages. The presenation will focus on the importance of organ and tissue donation. Scheduled as part of a statewide awareness campaign, this interactive session will educate students on how donation saves lives, dispel common myths, and encourage informed discussions within families. Representatives from the Illinois Secretary of State’s office will share real-life stories of individuals affected by organ donation, providing personal insights into the difference a single donor can make. Students will also learn how to register as potential donors when they turn 18, empowering them to make life-changing decisions in the future. This presentation aligns with Illinois's commitment to promoting health education and community responsibility, aiming to inspire young people to contribute positively to their communities.

SAFETY UPDATE
It’s the time of year when the days are getting shorter and darkness comes early. For the safety of our students, we’re reminding you that our building closes at 5:30 pm. We often find students hanging around to mingle with friends and then they walk to the bus stop alone. We don’t recommend this behavior and we are concerned about it.
With the holiday season approaching, we'd like to give you a heads up that our building will close at 4:00 pm on November 22nd. Please make transportation arrangements that will support the time of our building closure. This will also be the case on December 20th, which is the last day prior to the winter break.

Lindblom History Project
🦅📕📚Shout out to Mr. Roy Pearson (Sw68p), Mr. Dudek, and the thousands of Lindblom alumni who contributed to the Lindblom History Project. 📚📕🦅 👏🏾🦅For the first time in the history of Chicago Public Schools, a high school has commercially published the first of a three volume micro and macro centennial history of the years 1919-2019 in Chicago, from the perspective of the former students, faculty and administrators who were in residence at Lindblom during those years.🦅👏🏾 Do you want a copy? Go to: bit.ly/LindblomHP_V1 The 457-page first volume (1919-1969), researched and written by the 92-alumni Lindblom History Project, is the first of the three volume history to be published. Volume II (1970-2019) will be published in 2025 and Volume III (select essays, pictures and charts looking back over the entire 100 years) will be published in 2026.
