Dear Yellow Springs Elementary Families,

We appreciate all the kindness, notes of thanks, treat and goodies shared with our staff last week during staff appreciation week! Your generosity was HUGE and we thank you!

Some updates:

Please check bus pick-up and drop-off times. As we welcome more students in to the building on Monday, May 17th, bus transportation has been updated and pick-up and drop-off times may have changed for all students. Please visit www.fcps.org, Quick Links, Bus stop information, to confirm your child’s pick-up and drop-off time for Monday, May 17th.

Asynchronous Learning Day – Wednesday, May 19th will be an asynchronous learning day. There will be no Google meetings held with teachers. Please have your child check their Schoology courses for assignments to complete.

Schedule changes – Any changes to your child’s instructional schedule for the May 17th start will be communicated by your child’s teacher through email or Schoology.

We appreciate your flexibility as we continue the 2020-2021 school year journey. This year has been quite a journey and we appreciate all that you have done to support our Yellow Springs Eagles! Best regards, Sue

Hearing and Vision Screening will take place May 25th and 27th, 2021 for all in person students in 1st grade. Maryland State Law mandates this screening. Parents/guardians who have an objection to this screening based on the tenets and/or practice of their church or religion must submit a request for their child to be exempt from this screening. All written requests must be submitted to the health room by May 21st, 2021 . If your child wears glasses or contacts please make sure that they have them on the screening day(s).

The enrollment process for students new to Frederick County Public Schools for the 2021-2022 school year is now open! Enrollment is online at

This enrollment process will include new Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten students. All registrations will take place via a secure virtual environment. Parents will be able to upload required documents and attach pictures.

Please note, parents/guardians of existing FCPS students who will be changing schools within the county for next school year may begin to process in-county transfers using the online portal AFTER July 1st.

Required enrollment documents:

-Immunization and health records

Department of Health and Mental Hygiene form 896 Immunization Certificate

and

Documentation of a recent physical exam, recorded on the Maryland Schools Record of Physical Examination

-Proof of date of birth

One of the following: Birth certificate, physician's certificate, hospital certificate, baptismal or church certificate, parent's affidavit, or passport/visa

-Proof of residency

One of these: current property tax bill, current rental bill, current utility bill for water, gas, or electric

Frederick Children's Chorus: The Frederick Children's Chorus, for ages 8-18, will be returning to in-person rehearsals and performances during the 2021-2022 season. Little Music Makers, for ages 3-8, is also available. See flier for more information:

Patriot 3k Color Rush -Join the TJ community at GTJHS for this fun run/walk event to raise money to replace the letterboard sign with an LED electronic sign board. Tickets may be purchased at the event. See flyer below.
