Celebrating Pride Month
Join us in celebrating Pride Month, recognizing our diverse and dynamic LGBTQ+ community. We are proud of how our learning community is making the world a more inclusive and accepting place for everyone. We strive to create a culture of belonging that inspires all of our students to be critical thinkers who contribute positively to our complex world.
National Gun Violence Awareness Day
Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day, and many in our learning community wear orange to support life-saving gun safety measures and safe and protected schools. LOSD was one of the first school districts in Oregon to pass Policy KGBB banning firearms on school grounds and has partnered with Be Smart to promote safe firearm storage.
Gun violence is the leading cause of death for children and teens. We urge parents and caregivers to practice responsible gun storage by securing firearms in their homes and asking about the presence of guns in the homes of family and friends. Free gun locks are available for Lake Oswego residents from the Lake Oswego Police Department.
Honoring Our Retirees
We are giving a shoutout to our teachers and staff retiring at the end of this school year. Thank you for your years of service!

New School Principal and Assistant Principals
We are pleased to announce a few leadership changes at our schools. Please join us in welcoming these administrators to their new positions in our district.
At Palisades World Language School, Noah Hurd has been appointed the new interim principal of our district's elementary language immersion school. He will also serve as the district's K12 Language Immersion Program Coordinator. Noah begins his new role starting July 1, following the retirement of Lilian Sarlos.
At Lakeridge High School, Brian Crawford will return to his alma mater as Assistant Principal. Brian will begin his new role starting July 1, following Noah Hurd's move to Palisades. Brian graduated from Lakeridge High School, Class of 1995, as a distinguished student, artist, and athlete.
John Parke will return to Lakeridge High School as the Assistant Principal, a role he held before for seven years. John will begin as assistant principal on July 1, following the departure of Teresa Sanchez, who has accepted a principal position in the Beaverton School District.
We are conducting our hiring process to fill the new position of Coordinator of LOSD Safety and Security (formerly the Director of Safety and Security) and the role of assistant principal at Lake Oswego High School.
