DAR Good Citizen Award
Dryden High School is proud to announce that senior Chloe DeLoy has been selected as the recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizen Award. This prestigious honor recognizes high school seniors who exemplify the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities.
Each year, only one senior is chosen from Dryden High School for this distinction, making Chloeโs recognition especially meaningful. She was nominated by her teachers and peers, who recognized her commitment to academic excellence, community service, and school leadership.
โChloe truly embodies the spirit of this award,โ said Kimberly Fleming, Dryden High School Counselor. โShe is dependable, compassionate, and consistently looks for ways to serve others. Chloe leads by example, and our school community is better because of her.โ
Principal Mary Finnigan echoed this sentiment, adding: โWe are incredibly proud of Chloeโs accomplishments, both in and out of the classroom. She represents the very best of Dryden High School, and her dedication to leadership and service makes her a role model for her peers. This recognition is well deserved.โ
As the DAR Good Citizen Award recipient, Chloe is now eligible to participate in the DAR Good Citizen Scholarship contest, which includes submitting a personal statement and essay.
The DAR Good Citizen Award and Scholarship Contest is designed to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. More information about the program can be found at www.dar.org.

Senior Seminar Speaker
Saginaw Valley State University
by Nicklas Abromaitis
On Friday, September 26th, we had a guest speaker from Saginaw Valley State University. In this whole paper, I will abbreviate it to SVSU. Her name was Kaitlyn Rye. In her entire presentation, she spoke in a very convincing tone, which definitely got my attention.
Miss Rye couldnโt express more about the affordability of SVSU. She was honest about the prices, but then would reassure us that SVSU really doesnโt try to make you pay for much other than your classes, meal plan, and dorm. There are student resources on campus to help out with everything you need on campus. One of those is a place for students to buy food, drinks, clothes, and the basics they need for college.
Another act of affordability she talked about was the Cardinal Bucks. She said that for places on campus, you could either use your cardinal bucks ot actual money to pay for stuff. She said you could use cardinal bucks for Starbucks. I know that caught most people's attention in the class.
She expressed good things about the college dorms. Saying the different room styles there are for incoming freshmen, how the dorms were ranked number one in the country, and how they are very affordable. You could either request to live with your friends, or you could fill out a roommate form where they ask you about your personal lifestyle. But nothing too personal. For incoming freshmen, I think either of these options is very reassuring. Maybe you want to live with a classmate who is going to that college, just to make sure you feel comfortable there, or to know someone. But if you donโt get a room with your friend, she says the roommate forms work just as well. And it will pair you with other roommates who are almost the same as you.
After all is said, this speaker was very good. I never really thought about SVSU, mainly because I didnโt know too much information on the place, but now I think I can keep this school in the back of my mind for my decision on where I would like to attend university. Out of all of the speakers, I would say this college is in my top five so far.

Safe Firearm Storage
Michigan law requires schools to provide families with information about the importance of safe firearm storage. This notification is part of a statewide effort to promote student safety and comply with MCL 28.435 (Public Act 17 of 2023).
These images explain safe storage practices and provide guidance to help ensure firearms are secured properly, reducing the risk of accidental injury.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. Ensuring the safety of our students and community is a shared responsibility.

Last week's riddle:
In school, Iโm always present, but Iโm never on the attendance sheet.
Teachers canโt teach without me, yet Iโm not a person.
I can be hidden, whispered, or shouted, and when Iโm shared I grow instead of shrink.
What am I?
Answer: Knowledge!
Congratulations, Cora Baker! You were the first with the correct answer.
This week's riddle:
Walk on the living, they donโt even mumble. Walk on the dead, they mutter and grumble.
